Questions, Chatter, Congrats for the 2026 USAFA Appointment Thread

It happened to our DS portal as well but he didn't get any call of our congressman.
Okay, I think the call may have just been a coincidence. I wonder why they changed the portal up?

Is it bad if you are still waiting on a medical waiver?
Our DD had her waiver approved last Friday by USAFA and USMA and hasn't heard anything yet. As someone else stated, if a service academy is willing to pursue a medical waiver on a candidate that would mean they feel the candidate is worth the time to do so. It doesn't make a lot of sense to have doctors review and make decisions on someone they feel wouldn't make the cut. From a timing aspect though, I've also seen on this forum where someone gets their waiver approved after R-day or I-day and that's obviously too late but at least the waiver is there for the following year if the candidate wants to apply again.

It took 2 weeks from waiver to offer with USAFA for my DS. Admissions is backed up with the new software. No TWE means still in the running.

Admissions emailed me back asking for an picture of the portal. I will continue to update you as they email me. Sounds like we are in the same boat.
Thanks please keep us posted. I'm wondering if they would change your status from FFS to direct appointment.

Heyo! I have a question whether Marion Military Institute is better than the Georgia Military College or vice versa? I'm deciding between these two for prep school but I don't know if one is better than the other.
I know for our son and being on USMA AOG, a GMC plus is that the President is a USMA grad, but also it’s a few hours closer to home. We loved our visit there.

An update on what I was talking about earlier. The Air Force Academy changed my Falcon Foundation Scholarship to a direct appointment to the Air Force Academy!

Just received a call from admissions.
What an emotional roller coaster situation for your and your family. Congratulations! I just asked my DS to email the admissions office to get an update on his situation as well.

Yes, it was quite the shock. Went from thinking I would be hopefully leaving for the academy in a year to leaving for the academy in a month and a half. Very exciting though.

Has anyone ever gotten a waiver and then gotten denied admission?

By denied admission do you mean not offered an appointment? Typically a waiver review is only conducted if a candidate is seriously in consideration for an appointment, but that's all it is, an implication of a strong/competitive application. The request for waiver is a good sign, but no guarantee. Every year there are people on this forum that received the waiver but the appointment offer didn't follow.

Finally heard back today and received an appointment to the USAFAPS. I’ve got a big decision to make between that and my other top college. Does anyone have any advice or important things to note about the USAFAPS and what it can do for my future.
