Recognition!!!

2015 showed a lot of class pride at Recognition 2012. A specific event at the start of Recognition got us in big trouble with the upperclassmen; I won't say what it was so that future classes remain creative. They promised to give us the "Hardest Recognition we could ask for" and they came through - but our class also pulled through. Recognition meant a lot to me because it caused me to reflect and reaffirm the reasons that I came to USAFA. You get to know your classmates in ways you never thought possible - and you learn to work as a team. You cannot explain it to someone who hasn't experienced it and expect them to get it. It's just something you have to do yourself, and you'll be a better person because of it. I'll never forget it - and I'll never forget the people who did it with me.

Congrats fellow 2015ers!

"One Fight - One Team" → "Bros!"

Other than the 46,000+ of us that went prior!!! :thumb:

Okay. I will give you that. I meant the experience that my squad had, with the guys I did it with, was unique to us. But I would also have to agree that it is one thing that links the graduates by giving us an experience that is unique, but common to all in some way. It is great to finally understand what all of the upperclassmen have been hinting at but not able to express directly to us.

I have a question regarding the award of the Prop and Wings insignia to a fourth class USAFA cadet which is happening soon for class of "28. Can a cadet who is a direct descendent grandchild of a USAF member with 20+ years of active duty as a decorated combat pilot wear the GOLD prop and wings device?

It has to be a descendant of the AAC, WASPs or USAFA grad.

The only 3 reasons I know are:

1. Descendent of Army Air Corps member

2. Descendent of a Women Air Force Service Pilot

3. Parent is a USAFA grad.

well hold a second....it said no more beatings in the OP's post. How did we get here from there lol!!

What about a descendant of the Army Air Forces, which replaced the Army Air Corps after 1941?

While not specifically mentioned that does fit with the spirit of the gold prop and wings honoring the predecessor of the USAF so I would say yes. I would think that the AAF is being lumped in to the AAC designation. I'd be interested to hear if others have knowledge on the subject.

I'm going to be 100% with you, we don't check. I wear my gold wings because my great grandfather was in the army air corps and I had the photos and documentation ready to go. No one cared, but me. They just went oh gold cool here you go. So take that as you will
