It has been a fun run, full of hope and anxiety. I received this letter back in early May, I think. After the initial panic wears off, the fact that you got rejected doesn't feel as bad as you'd think. But what now frustrates me is not knowing what led me to be rejected. Was it academics? SAT scores? CFT scores? Essays? Or maybe all of them? I emailed the defense attache office a while back, no word.

Well, back to the drawing board and running field again. Here's to hoping the DoD announces my nation as one of the accepted countries to apply to the academies. The roller coaster may have gone down and maybe sideways, but it will go up and reach the final destination. We're all gonna make it.

Thank you to everyone on this forum, this community has been more than helpful for navigating this whole process as an international. To all prospective applicants of the Class Of 2028, godspeed and see you at the academies.

Sorry man. But keep in mind they said "We hope that you will continue to pursue your goals of service to your nation" Not sure what country you are from, but maybe you could try ROTC, maybe enlisting. Your post doesn't make it sound like up are necessarily giving up, but in case you are.....
Don't!

Sounds like it came down to a numbers situation. Every year fully qualified candidates aren't admitted to SAs due to there not being enough seats at the table.

I would give it a little bit of time, and then reach out to your admission counselor and ask for a debrief. Most are happy to tell you how you could strengthen your application.

ROTC is not an option since I am not an American. But I am hoping to reapply this year.
Giving up is never an option.

I keep thinking that candidates have to be extremely outstanding or be lucky. I'm hoping to raise my scores and gain some work experience this summer, so I can further stand out.

I tried contacting my DAO but apparently he's very busy so it's mostly down to me guessing at this point.

I know I belong at the academy, and I refuse to let anything hold me down.

Give your admission counselor a month. They are now busy transitioning to the new admission cycle. Then reach out for feedback.

Can't you particpate in ROTC as a regular college course? Not with the intention of trying to commission that way, but if you could participate as a freshman, then it may look good on your reap?

We don't have ROTC or its equivalent here.

I think people missed your reference to being a prospective international candidate, willing, but your country is not at this time part of the U.S. DoD and DoS agreements with countries enabling them to send attendees to U.S. service academies.

Our country was accepted by the DoD and DoS last year to send cadets to the service academies. I don't know about West Point, but I am aware of a Mongolian cadet currently about to start his sophomore year at the Air Force Academy. I'm sure our country will be able to send cadets for the Class of 2028 as well.

Ah - thank you for clarifying. I must have misread an earlier post.
