Remaining NROTC Boards

This is what it says:

To be medically eligible to participate in NSI, you must meet one of the three (3)
categories described below and provide the required documentation identified in each category.

1. Medically Qualified through DoDMERB. Please contact your units Human Resource
Assistant (HRA) for a copy of the following documents::
a. Accession Medical History Report (DD Form 2807-2)
b. Report of Medical Examination (DD Form 2808), and
c. DoDMERB qualification letter

2. Medical Waiver Granted. Please contact your units HRA for a copy of the following
documents:
a. Accession Medical History Report (DD Form 2807-2),
b. Report of Medical Examination (DD Form 2808),
c. DoDMERB disqualification letter, and
d. Naval Service Training Command (NSTC) Waiver Approval Letter & Bureau
of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) Physical Qualification for NROTC
Scholarship Letter

The third one was if you have not yet submitted to DoDMERB.

Thank you and yes I saw that. Just curious if the qualification letter would suffice instead of having to requests copies of forms.

Word to the wise: if the military/government asks for something specific, it is always in your best interest (and easiest way to ensure no issues) to give them exactly what they ask for. I would suggest getting all the forms and working with your coordinator at the school you will be attending to ensure you and they have everything you need.

Just to expand a bit on @IronmanDaremo, Make copies or scan EVERYTHING you send. Before reporting to his unit freshman year, DS had to fill out a bevvy of forms and mail them to his unit. As he was about to take the package to mail it I asked if he had scanned everything, just in case something got lost. He rolled his eyes at me and said it would be fine, but reversed course and headed to the scanned. When he arrived at his unit of orientation, he was pulled out and asked where his forms were; that they never received them. Instead of spending a couple hours filling out new forms, he retrieved his flash drive and printed the saved documents.

DS has now been admitted to 2 of the 5 schools on his NROTC application and will know the other 2 by 3/24 and the last one before 4/1. Is there any value in communicating this status now? Who would he tell? He had is application in early so is probably on the alternate list...

From your post, it sounds like he has not been awarded a scholarship at this time. If this is the case, there is no value to letting anyone know he has been admitted to schools. The board does not consider this when deciding whether to award a scholarship. It is up to the applicant to gain admission to a university where that can use the scholarship and the boards assume the applicant has done so.

Had you ever checked your status on the netfocus site and saw a status that your package was in fact submitted? That message typically means there has been no record of submission or that your package was removed from the system. You probably need to check with your recruiting officer. There might be a problem with the netfocus site but others here have been able to check their status. At least they could last week.
My recruiter told me as of yesterday when she checked it said Board Eligible. Do you know why it would work for her and not for me?

Could be the browser you are using. Sometimes I have to shift to Firefox. Not sure why. But board eligible tells me it is about to be seen at the next board. I am guessing it was recently submitted.

Okay, I'm confused , since sometime shortly my son's interview February 9th the portal states: Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected." Then I read posts that state certain applications are "board eligible" and I wonder if his application has been looked at yet. Should he be looking for another status change to indicate he is further down the road in the board process? An earlier thread mentioned nearly 700 applications came in at the end of the cycle- my son's would be one of those- were they all looked at in the last board or do they only access a certain number each board?

Good morning. Just checking to see if anybody has any credible “rumors” on results being release from the 7-11 March board. Also, any “unofficial” number of applicants and scholarships remaining would be greatly appreciated. With deposits at three schools for Plan A through C, with each school wanting more of my summer job funds, any news would my options much clearer.

I think the goal os to have results out by the end of this week. But it is spring break time for colleges so that could slow things down a little.
Captain Meyers- Do you know if the first March board results have already been released? Thank you.

I have heard the brief was put in front of our boss yesterday afternoon, and so if all goes well, people are sending out emails first thing tomorrow. Now that I have said this, one of two things will happen. Either the emails go out today, or they come out Thursday. I believe there is a conspiracy afoot to make me look silly. (And I don't need help on that). I do think they are headed out soon though. And there is a board going on now as well.

Is the board that is happening now the final board? Or is there one more in April? I talked with the Penn State NROTC and he said that the final notifications should be coming out soon.

There are boards in April but those are set aside for MSISR and BOOST reviews.

Hi, could you explain MSISR and BOOST? I'm not familiar with the acronyms. Thanks.

MSISR = Minority Serving Institution Scholarship Reservation. Essentially a scholarship offer centered on increasing certain diverse ethnic groups in the Naval service with certain universities.

BOOST = Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training. This used to be a stand alone program but is now rolled up into the STA 21 Seamen to Admiral Program. It offers 3 or 6 month training to improve academic and physical readiness. This program is for enlisted only.

Thank you sir. I'm a mom waiting to hear about my daughter's scholarship application and your information here has been invaluable. She was selected for an ISR back in December but we still haven't heard, so I'm trying to stay hopeful but honestly with each passing board I'm figuring her chances are less and less. And yes, we have a Plan B 😊

So I am pretty sure you know this but ISR is a horse of a different color. If DD was selected by the NTAG CO, that is almost a certain selection. I don't know why some get word faster than others, but DD could check with her recruiter to see if there is any news.

I am away from my computer, but I have been told emails are going out now. For those of you who love checking the portals, this is your moment. Also check spam folders for emails.
