You're only allowed to SUBMIT it once. You can practice and take it as many times as you like. As far as a "RE-TEST" goes; that is entirely up to the academy to REQUEST YOU DO. I.e. 4.0 gpa, class rank #1, 2300 SAT 34 ACT, Varsity letter, bla bla bla. In other words; you walk on water. And the ONLY thing that sucks is maybe you couldn't do even 1 pullup. Or you could only throw the basketball 20 feet. The academy can request you to retake the CFA. You can't ask or request it. later.... mike....

OHHHH Christcorp, thank you I get it now. So there really is no reason for me to try to retake it since the academy has seen it and considered it competitive? that's kind of a bummer though cause i could do a significantly larger amount of push-ups and pull-ups, and looked even more competitive :(

and mike- why didn't you guys just not turn those CFAs in, and wait to take it later when you're not sick or there aren't any trees burning?

You can contact your admissions counselor and see if they'll let you retake it. It's their choice. But if you think you can SIGNIFICANTLY do better, let them know. If you made at least the minimum and you think you might only improve slightly, then it's probably not worth the time or effort. Can't hurt to ask. But when I said previously that you can't ask to retake; I should have said that it's not up to you. You can definitely ask. But the academy will decide if they want you to. Remember; they really only care that you make at least the minimum. Doing above the minimum really helps if you are border line on something else. I.E. you didn't do any high school sports; only a little city league ping pong or something. But, you did the MAX on everything for the CFA. That helps the academy realize that you are physically in good shape. later.... mike.....

Just got back, did better on it definitely. 68' throw (13' improvement), 12 pullups (same as last time), 8.4 shuttle (.4 improvement), 55 situps (2 improvement), 43 pushups (2 less, only thing I did worse on), 7:14 mile (1:17 improvement).
