Roller coaster I: Get Us (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘26 🎢

2nd semester Brigade PRT is coming up this weekend. Train hard, win easy!
DS is prepping as he should be for the PRT with his squad and roomies. Things he has now done for years, how has the time flown??? This boggles my mind.

Now, as of yesterday he had swelling and heat on the knee. With no noticeable or notable knee injury, nor any injury that stood out to him. I recommended elevation, ice on and off and anti inflammatory, and a potential trip to BMU.

Son is going to go for the max score on his PRT. He was close last time, but his run was about 30 seconds off. Said he has no problems with the cadence pushups and plank.

I keep rubbing it in that I still hold the family record for the mile and a half with an 8:27 I ran during my PS. Always a good way to motivate him! :bleh2:
(For the record, he still can lay the claim to being the fastest person in the house. While he hasn't beaten some of my PRs, that is mainly because he hasn't raced longer distances. But he is significantly faster than I was at his age).

Save the date!!!

The USNA vs. Johnnies match is set for April 15th! Teams from the Club (28th Company) will be taking on the St. John's kids in a friendly (??) croquet match on the St. John's campus. Tickets are by invite only, but are available to midshipmen.

Son was selected as a caddie for the A team!! Psyched for him. Said he has to wear dress whites and "pit vipers." I think those are sunglasses??

Wasn’t sure where to put this question but figured someone here would know.

Do incoming plebe families have the opportunity to buy Army-Navy football tickets through the academy?

Also be aware ArmyNavy football is about to go on a 5 year road trip of new cities. (Sadly, this next class will never experience the long held traditions of Philly Army/Navy weekend) You may want to look into all the lodging/transportation pieces early.

The 2023 game is in Boston- and is happening the same week as the 250th anniversary celebration of the Boston Tea party. There are several threads you can search on here about the game location and good areas near Foxborough to start trying to make lodging arrangements. Mids will be spending long rides on buses and cot naps, and rushing back for exams.

Thanks for the advice. Already have a hotel booked in Providence for the game weekend this year. Just needed to figure out the tickets piece.

My son was appointed to class of ‘27 - and we live about 10 miles from Lincoln Financial Field in Philly.

Of course he’ll never see a game there with the game shifting locations in the coming four years!

Yes and if local you can also purchase season tkts and be eligible for more wit a B&G donation.

Do you recall if you were offered 2 or 4?
Officially last year it was I think you could request in June and they were selling on PPW I think. Tkt site said Plebe Parents, 2, based on availability. Being a Philly guy we had a ton of family and friends wanting to attend as it was my Plebe's only Philly year for Army-Navy. I did the B&G donation and season tkts to make sure I could get all I needed. It was an incredible weekend with hosting a big tailgate and several Mids back at the house.

We're so sad that it will not return until 27'. I was told by tkt office that tickets will be tougher to come by this year as Gillette holds about 4000 less than the Linc. IMO it doesn't make sense to put the mids through 8+ hr bus ride, sleep on cots, go to game, jump back on bus for 8+ hrs get back to yard at 4am Sunday and then have exams on Tuesday.

As I recall, we (parents) received an email from the Athletic Association, offering a one time ‘plebe parent’ opportunity to purchase tickets to the Big Game. It was in the summer. So watch for that (and make sure your Mid supplies your email, if prompted, in their PTR). It may have actually been a snail mail offer, to us. I don’t recall.

BTW, they just got notified that all upper class can fly. And that includes upcoming youngsters. There are two options: 1) bus/accommodations, little to no cost (leave early Friday, overnight, game and hope on the bus back), and 2) full independent travel (plane, POV, Hotel).

PRT this morning. Kid maxed plank, push-ups, but bombed the run with a 9:24. Said his chest was tight, and wasn't feeling great. Thinks he has a cold.

Not taking a weekend amazingly! Said if they go to both men's and women's BBall games against Army, they can earn a weekend for each Navy win of the two. Of course, he'll probably try to do that.
