Roller coaster I: Get You (The Parents) Through Plebe Year - Class of ‘27 🎢

Let’s get this thread back on track. Dining outs should be starting very soon, the plebes should all enjoy that.
Cigs 🚬 to celebrate, knew nothing about that tradition until last year seeing all the photos.

I’m retired law enforcement (not looking for employment) but I hear that the employee benefits are great. It’s probably why their Customer Service is so good.

Any interest in renaming this thread “ Costco vs Sam’s Club, Walmart & BJ’s?”

My local Costco had Blantons for $65 per bottle a couple of weeks ago.

One of the highlights of my life was being the invited guest of honor and Guest Speaker at my son's company dining out
when he was a firstie. I was far from the only military or alum parent but somehow, they picked me. FWIW, much of my
speech ended up in something that the Stockdale Center makes available for all mids. *

* Yes, I'm being vague as I'm keeping my privacy.
 
This time of year the yard is somewhere special. Plebes can start to see the finish line of the year and realize that life is almost behind them. 3/C are hungry to take charge if training and have a bigger impact. 2/C are really embracing their summer training as they narrow down and confirm their preferred service assignments. 1/C can feel the freedom and graduation is so close. The yard is in full bloom and beautiful. It’s magical from now until graduation around there.

Block 1- Stem Detail,
Block 2H-PROTRAMID San Diego,
Block 3-MAGTF WEST, which she wasn't supposed to get, so she's trying to get out of it. I'm not sure if that's possible.

Yes, she should be able to get out esp as a plebe. USNA realizes it's a long haul from I-Day to start of Summer training for Plebes. Same happened to my DS (fully booked all 3 training blocks) , he needed and wanted a summer leave break and was able to swap out of Block 1 MAGTF last summer and was a NASS detailer in 2 and PROTRAMID in 3.
 
Visited my mid late Feb. Back in Jan he was struggling bad, I had never seen him in so much distress. Happy to inform that he is over the hump, and he is excited about his major. He spent spring break with us, and I was worried that he would get homesick again. Thanks God he adjusted well, (very different from right after Christmas break) - for any class of 2028 reading this, Dark Ages is real, homesickness is real even if your plebe breeze through plebe summer - they will probably struggle at some point during a/c year. I can’t believe I have just ordered Herndon Climb shirts and I’m ready to celebrate the end of Plebe year 🎉 yes, I worked hard too, mentally and emotionally my heart survived! 🤣

This is SO COMMON!

Wonderful follow up. Thanks for the circle back. Many month later, mine shared it was the hardest jetway walk in his entire life, getting back on that plane. Now he is graduating. Happy. Excited. On the cusp of amazing adventure. About to entire Real Life.

Not making emotional decisions is key.

NAAA is an athletics blocker. If a MIDN plays a spring sport, playoffs or the last part of the season will take place during 0 Block events. The NAAA blocker is a blanket excusal from 0 Block activities so athletes can travel, practice, compete, and recover without having to worry about going to all the different events or having their Chain of Command on their case.
