Hello I am new to this thread I been dealing with some repayment issues if anyone would be of help.

Last year I dis-enrolled myself from AROTC for no medical, or academic reason as a MS3 just simply wanted out, I was given the choice to pay back the scholarship or enlist, I told my PMS and signed that I would pay it back. Fast forward to a few months later and I decided to enlisted into the Army as an E4 and did all the contracting paperwork a few weeks ago I was hit with a DFAS monthly bill request and I am not sure who I should get into contact with whether there is a option to waive or remit the debt due to choosing to enlist. I understand I signed to pay it back, but many people mentioned that there is a way to get it fixed, unfortunately my recruiter has no clue how to approach the situation and I am stressing out about it even thought the bill isn't that much whether I should start paying it or get in touch with a certain form or POC. Thanks!

Try calling Cadet Command in Kentucky, and explain what happened. Someone there might be able to guide you to apply your E-4 service in lieu of the DFAS bill. No guarantees, though. It would have been easier had you done this before you signed your enlistment contract!

You might do better by hiring an attorney who specializes in this sort of thing. However, if the balance owed is as you say, not that much, it might not be cost-effective to hire a lawyer.

Good luck to you.

Definitely start paying it back-- you don't want an outstanding debt to impact your security clearance.

And like not paying your Military Star Card payments this is one of those things that your command will quickly hear about.

Certainly fight the repayment, but make your payments in the meantime. If you got an enlistment bonus, then use that to knock the balance down.

First call Cadet Command. Simultaneously, you might want to show your ROTC contract to an attorney. It may be a matter of one attorney letter to the right person to fix this problem. But it depends on what the contract says. Agree that you should not default on any payments. I did a quick search and found an attorney who does this kind of work. I’m sure there are others
