Luigi,

Perhaps you missed this post above:

No, I didn''t miss it. I saw it when it was posted, and it was appropriate a week ago.

The name has been released, the funeral has been held. I don't think it's inappropriate whatsoever to wonder what killed this young man.

If it was a homicide, the public should be made aware that there may be a killer at USAFA. If it was drugs, the public should know that as well. If it was some sort of medical issue - infection, meningitis, heart attack - it should be released. And if he killed himself, that too should be known, as a call for more suicide prevention training could be demanded.

Young 22 year olds just don't die at the United States Air Force Academy without a reason.

Why is it so important for you to know? I am just asking.

Conversely - Why is it so important to hide?

Until the Air Force releases the details officially, I would ask that folks refrain from "speculation" or other comments.

I bolded the appropriate section for your future reference.

Luigi,

You need to listen to the mods.

I don't think they are hiding anything and quite frankly I do know what happened but it is not up to me to make it public. If it were a homicide, I am pretty sure that it would have been revealed. I am sure if it were some sort of infectious disease it would have been told to the public. For some reason, the Academy does not want to release the information, and I respect that.

I happen to agree with you Luigi.

We already have Honor viiolations and what-not. If there are other issues I as a parent would want to know that to encourage my DS to continue to explore all his options. I don't think Luigi's tone was caustic, confrontational, and time and certain events have passed. I find it odd that educated wonderment is dealt with so harshly.

You learn in the military, that they do things in their own time, and for their own reasons. (Usually justified). To be part of this organizations means to accept that. Obviously more difficult to understand for someone who has never been in the military.

I PMed you.

"..quite frankly I do know what happened.."
As do most people that have sons/daughters at USAFA. However the Mods seem to think it is important to not to mention it until the AF releases the "official" cause. Anyone following this forum will probably notice that historically only one cause of death seems invoke this "gag" rule.

This thread has outlived its usefulness. If someone has new information on this subject that he/she thinks should be posted, please start another thread.
