If you have received a letter that says you are scholastically qualified, will you receive another letter saying you are triple qualified? I took the CFA and also passed my medical but have only received a letter saying I am scholastically qualified.

Also, if you have a letter saying you are scholastically qualified, can you still receive an LOA?

I was wondering the same thing.

Our son recieved a scholastically qualified letter, a cert. from dodmerb saying he is qualified- and he took the CFA during summer seminar...(that only says it is completed) we were only told by his BGO that he is 3Q'D, but no letter stating that...how do we know it is true? I don't know if they send letters stating they are 3Q'd or not...

Our daughter also received a scholastically qualified letter, but was 3Q'd when her application went before the board. She had already received the letter from DODMERB indicating she was qualified and had completed her CFA at NASS.

Have candidates received letters that say they are 3Q'd? I thought there were only two letters...either the coveted LOA or a scholastically qualified...or no letter.

My son was also told he was 3 Q'D when his app went b4 the board by his BGO...I just wish we had a letter stating that...but...it is good to know your daughter and my son are in the same"BOAT"...LOL!!!

Strictly going by what I've read on these boards for the past months, I haven't really heard of a 3Q'd letter, at least for this class. I thought people mentioned having heard of them in the past (and now probably 3 people will post that they just got one! ). So far all I've seen people post from USNA was either the LOA or the Academically Qualified. I'm not sure if you don't get one of those if you just receive nothing, or some type of "not qualified" letter. I do believe though that the Academically Qualified letter means your file has gone before the board, and - if they wanted to - they would have given an LOA instead. Doesn't mean you still can't one, but I'd think it would be unlikely without improving your file to get them to look at it again.

To my knowledge there is no 3-Q letter. The scholastically qualified letter is one part, the DoDMERB letter/online qualification is the second part, CFA is the third. CFA is the only one you don't have some kind of written confirmation of.......

It is my understanding that if you do not "pass" the CFA (it is pass/fail, but you can strengthen it with better scores), your application will never make it to the board. And you will be told that your CFA scores were not up to snuff.

So, really you have the knowledge you need concerning 3-Q.

Last year, they only issued few, if any at all, scholastically qualified letters. When I was on the yard in Nov during CVW, Admissions told me that they were "reworking the scholastically qualified letter" and hoped to get it out. We never received one. :thumb:

Thanks Jenny P--- I am not so concerned now...I am an oraganized FREAK and like to have all paperwork filed...guess I won't worry about a 3 Q'D letter if one does not exist...makes sense regarding the CFA...I guess "completed" means passed...Have a good night...thanks for the info...
