So to make a long story short, I didn’t know I wanted to go to a service academy until this year, which also happens to be my senior year. My instructors are advising it may be too late but I am willing to do anything to attend USMA. Any sort of Guidance you all can offer? Feel free to ask any questions.👍

Apply apply apply! It's not too late, almost but you're still in the window. Start an application with USMA and your congressional reps / senators for nominations ASAP! USMA app isn't due until early 2023, but your congressional nom apps should be due soon. Reach out to your FFR for specific questions also! You can find them in your USMA candidate portal.

I heard about someone who did the entire application in one week...so it is possible...the hardest part right now is the nominations as those are coming due in a month+...get the letters of recommendations done asap...that is what is holding my son's stuff right now....

Get on the West Point admissions site and get your application started. Fill out the candidate questionnaire. Go to your congressional office websites and get the instructions and deadlines for submitting nomination requests. In most cases, the deadline for submitting those nomination packets are sometime this month or next so get started on that immediately as that can be a cumbersome process. If you have not started training for the CFA, start now. You have a very small window of opportunity, but it is still open. The key is not to miss the closest upcoming deadlines - likely the nominations.

My DS, now a 1C at USNA, had his SA applications done early. He waited to the last minute to send in his Nomination applications to his two Senators and single Congressman. These Nom packages were received one day before the deadlines. He received two Noms to Navy. I don't recommend waiting to submit.

Just to echo and add to what has been said….My son, now USMA cadet missed the deadlines for our states two Senators and we drove to deliver his package to the congressional office one day before deadline. He had long wanted a service academy but had put all of his efforts into USNA and had a couple early college scholarships that made him question the academies completely and push towards ROTC. His visits to West Point completely changed his mind and sold him on Army. He did not submit his completed application till January. As stated, he is at West Point now. Never quit! If you want to go - believe you can make it happen and go for it. I would not suggest my older son’s path. i have another son applying this year and he is in the opposite position with everything completed and medical underway. I can definitely say this is much less stressful doing things early. Just put you best effort into the process, believe it can happen (because it can) and go for it! Good luck and believe!

To add to what others have stated, your local state nomination sources have to be your first priority. Deadlines vary (535+ members of congress have 535+ different processes for nominations).
Start there.
Buckle down. Get a whiteboard and chart due dates.
If this is what you want, dedicate yourself to it and seek a plan B that mirrors your commitment to serve as an officer in the military.

We could use an update if the high school senior jumped right in and did his congressional nomination packets and opened his application. The application deadline is in January so that it plenty of time. It is the Congressman & Senators who may have an earlier deadline.

I agree. This particular poster struck a chord with me. Following!

Start applying now, and even if you don't get in you can get a leg up for next year if your application is strong.
