I was wondering if attending a service academy following a year completed of civilian college is possible? I wanted to attend a service academy while in high school, but my grades were not at the level they should have been to be granted admittance. I will be attending college next year and participating in the Army ROTC program under scholarship, however it has always been my dream to attend a service academy. Basically, my question is: if I receive excellent grades my freshman year of college, do I have a chance of admittance to any service academy for the next school year?

In Short, yes. Do excellent your freshman year in college. Take the recommended classes, you will definitely have a shot at admissions.

There are lots of college students who apply to the academy. There have even been a few who got an appointment to the academy who already finished their b.s. degree in college. Just one thing to remember. Your college credits don't transfer to the academy towards graduation. You can use some credits to bypass some classes but you will stay at the academy for all 4 years taking their classes. Even if you have a bachelor degree already.
