I am wondering how much the service selection counts (if any) on your Navy ROTC scholarship application. I am currently leaning toward Surface Warfare but I am really not 100% sure till I am able to get more of the experience. I realize that ultimately your service selection is driven by your overall GPA, PT test, leadership etc. but wondered if the selection on your application had any bearing on selection or future service selection if picked up for the scholarship.

If they service select toward the end of your NROTC experience, similar to USNA and it is based on overall order of merit and possibly interviews with each service, I can't imagine it has any bearing on your application. Too many things can change between now and then, including your exposure to each service and the needs of the Navy. Not speaking from any level of expertise, just my humble opinion.
Also, if that is your real name you need to create a new account with an anonymous user name- per moderator's suggestions.

DS was told during his application that what he put for desired warfare community had no bearing on the scholarship. Good thing for him, since when he applied he wanted aviation (NFO), then after CORTRAMID he wad leaning towards subs and now hopes to go SWO(n). That prompt is meant to get you to research the available paths and gauge your thought process and written skills.
