My DS in Texas received his TWE today. I am heartbroken for him but he was very stoic about it.
My DS received his TWE today as well so it’s Plan B for him: Texas A&M Engineering College and he’s doing Corps. Maybe our candidates will meet!Definitely seems like today was the wrong kind of wave Sad DD in TX for us, as well. I turn 50 next week myself, so totally agree about looking back! Best wishes to your DD and her excellent options. Still holding out hope for the NROTC scholarship, that sure would make the path a little straighter! She's accepted to Texas A&M engineering (as well as Citadel and Norwich), so we'll just hang tight a little longer and hope for some fair winds and following seas!Same here. TX. Got TWE email and update today. DS is upset - but plans B and C are still awfully good plans (USMMA Appointment and NROTC 4-year award) so I hope he eventually can realize that this is only a speed bump on the way to serving. But at 18 that’s hard when your dream was USNA. It’s a lot easier at 50 looking backward to see the bright spot.
Anyone still CPR without a nom?
DS has an AROTC scholarship for VT, so maybe we will see you there!TWE here in VA.
DS has an AFROTC scholarship that he'll use at VT, where he'll be in the Corps of Cadets. I'm certain he will love it there!
Thanks for the advice, encouragement, and companionship on this very long journey. I have no doubt that our hard-working, tenacious and bright kids will have unbelievably bright futures!
Off we go into the wild blue yonder, y'all. Peace out!
Now to the point of my post....her portal changed from this morning's "You are being considered for sponsorship into the USNA Foundation Program" to this evening's "Complete Pending Review." We don't want to read too much into this, as it may mean nothing. Regardless, does anyone have a clue what may be going on?
Very possible indeed! After ice cream last night to cover some sadness, we looked ay NSC dates, Corps outfits with NROTC, etc. She did an overnight with the Corps last year (JCAP weekend; stayed with the P-2 outfit) and really enjoyed herself, so all will be well I think! My DS received his TWE today as well so it’s Plan B for him: Texas A&M Engineering College and he’s doing Corps. Not sure. If she's been offered (and accepted) Foundation (a GREAT opportunity BTW), I can't imagine it's been rescinded. It could be that they are now considering her for a direct appointment. That occasionally happens. More likely, it's a glitch. If it doesn't change back, check with CAPT Wallace.
I know exactly how you feel- same thing happened at our house yesterday. DS received his TWE- he was very stoic and said he was disappointed but more than anything glad the wait was over- he never showed us how anxious he actually was. Then, he began talking about positive things and reapplying next year-he said to keep his mind off of the disappointment. I shared his positivity, but on the inside, I was absolutely heartbroken for him. It's difficult when you see your child work so hard (since 8th grade) and things don't work out. We are still waiting to hear from other SA's- most importantly, he has a great plan b and instead of dwelling in disappointment, he is moving forward with a positive attitude! My DS in Texas received his TWE today. Do they send acceptance e-mails? I thought acceptances were either through the MOC or the big blue envelope.Did only TWE go out? Did anyone get an acceptance email today?

Reading your post brought back all the feelings I was going through last year with my DS. He dreamed of attending USNA since he was a little boy but did not receive an appointment. He also worked so hard and I was heartbroken for him. He went to college, joined NROTC, took a challenging class schedule and worked very hard. He earned a great GPA, reapplied and received an appointment. Your son should take some time to decompress and enjoy the rest of his senior year. Then he should reapply, not everyone gets in the first time.I know exactly how you feel- same thing happened at our house yesterday.
