Summer Seminar Question(s)

I was filling out the questionnaire for USAFA's Summer Seminar and I had a few questions.

1) The application says to "list any high school courses that you've taken." Does that include all classes (electives and core classes)? Also do I put down classes that I'm currently taking?

2) If I have had no work experience do I leave the area blank?

3) Are there any more questions after the essay? I already need to talk to my counselor to get my unweighted GPA and class size, and with Christmas break around the corner I want to make sure I ask everything I need to.

Thank You

@FlyingWings, reread the question regarding class grades. “List any of the following high school courses you have taken and your grade for that course.” Only list the classes and grades they are asking for.

I would try not to leave any sections blank. Do you have any volunteer jobs you could list? Maybe “jobs” at school as a peer tutor or something like that? If you don’t have any I would at least acknowledge that you are answering the question by stating something like “No work/job experience yet” rather than leaving it blank.

Can’t answer #3, my DS hasn’t gotten that far yet. Still writing the essay ;).

Good luck!

Some thoughts on the essay:
  • I can't see the current essay question but in the past it has been along the lines of, "Describe an obstacle you faced & how you overcame it" essentially.
  • Usually one is advised to avoid the 3 D's in college app essays, (Drugs, Death, Divorce) but that doesn't apply here. If, unfortunately, any of these situations apply to you, it's OK to write about them, it's SS.
  • Some applicants submit truly heart-wrenching essays, the kind of which makes one want to start a Gofundme page. Thankfully many haven't experienced anything like that.
  • Please stay away from the "I was losing the cross-country race, then I was able to pull ahead" example of an obstacle overcame. Seriously.
  • Have someone else proofread your work, preferably your English teacher, if possible.
  • Grammar, punctuation, & word count, count!
