Yes, this kind of news can buoy the spirits of elderly loved ones. Just tell your mid to do what mine did: Called and said, "Grandma, I made the Dant's List."Oh ok. I see, thank you. I’ll have now ask my mid for a copy of the email that was sent then anything to brighten aging grandparents whose health is quickly declining.
Agree. And WHY post one, and not the other? What is the reasoning behind posting a link to one list?I am frankly surprised that they still have a link to the Dant's list. Listing the names of Midshipmen isn't a really good OPSEC move, in my opinion.
I had the same question. I saw the Dant's list, but had to ask my mid about the Supes list. Great question about posting one and not the other. Curious myself.Where can I find the list of names that made this honor list?
I was able find Commandant’s list but nothing else.
I don’t want to ask my mid, but wanted to show aging grandparents their grandson’s accomplishments.
Thank you.
I agree, but then USNA wouldn't be able to post any sports rosters, either.I am frankly surprised that they still have a link to the Dant's list. Listing the names of Midshipmen isn't a really good OPSEC move, in my opinion.
Well, then, the Supes list look good for USNA.There is OpSec and promotion/plubicity. One will always trump the other just depending on who decides which is more important at the time. It likely switches every few years. "Protect the OpSec of Mids, except when it looks good for USNA. Then show the names and stats".
Although it is interesting that the supe's list used to be published, then someone made the point of ending the practice.Seems to me that this is simply an issue of "right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing." Also an issue of "we have many priorities at USNA, and fixing this inconsistency is not high on the list." Given all that's entailed in teaching, training, housing, feeding and caring for 4400 mids, I'm OK with those explanations. If the mid knows they're on the list, and they see fit to tell their parents, good enough for me.
Mine just said the same thing. lolWearing stars was considered uber nerdy when my DS was there. He rated them every semester and never once wore them.
This is clearly a hot item of interest in parent circles but there is absolute silence among alumni and curiously among alumni parents. I think that just between my company classmates and my varsity teammates, I can easily name ten alumni parents of more than a dozen grads and none of them seem concerned about this.It was a big deal but no one talked about it.
