Hello all,
I am a CC for the USMA class of 23 (I have an LOA + nom + 3q) and will definitely accept an appointment if I am offered one. My FFR has mentioned the Thayer Honors Program as a possibility while at West Point. From my understanding, plebes are selected for it after the 10th week of the semester and it continues for 3 1/2 years. It sounds like it assists in getting grad school scholarships for after commissioning, but I am unclear as to what being in the program involves (different classes, more opportunities, etc.) I could only find this page for it online: (https://www.usma.edu/excellence/SitePages/Thayer_Honors.aspx) but the page appears to be a couple years old and I am looking for update information. I also tried searching this forum for it as well but nothing popped up. Has anyone here (cadets, parents, grads) had any experience with what the program is like? I know the chance is slim as only ~20 cadets are selected per class, but I would just like to know more about it (how to get in, advantages/disadvantages, experience, advice, etc.) Thank you very much for your time and to all my fellow 2023 CCs, I hope to see you all on R-Day!
