The dreaded "Hold" Status

Even though our son did not get an appointment the entire process was a positive one. He strived to achieve goals. Learned to push himself. Discovered how to write a resume. Was able to conduct himself in an interview. Took the SATs multilple times to raise his scores. The waiting showed all of us patience. We are convinced that his attempts at an appointment is what gained him addmittance to his other school choices. He was able to secure some scholarship money with his good record and interviewing skills. As they say you can't buy training like that. Best of luck to all those going to the USMMA and to all those on other roads.

Best of luck to your son. He sounds like a great boy. Things happen for a reason. he is on the path that was meant for him.

Still waiting.

My DS is still waiting. Win, lose or draw, I echo your sentiments Farmer. The application process has given my DS goals and opportunities he never would have otherwise had. I am as proud of my DS to have made it this far and become the man that he is.

Was your DS by chance offered an appoint to NMMI? Just curious as I had heard most people making it this far get a chance at Prep School.

No prep school offer. We send our best thoughts your way!

NMMI

Hi All, this is my first post, my son's application was on hold for quite awhile, but he did get an appointment to NMMI. We're just figuring it all out now. We're so far away (the Aleutian Islands, think Deadliest Catch world) I'm going to read a lot, and call the school tomorrow. I have to book flights and I haven't heard about them going a week early? ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. I can't even watch the videos NMMI has or participate in teleconferences we're in never-never land out here!

My son is surprisingly still on hold here... I am unsure as to whether this is good or bad at this point but I guess no news is good news still. Is there anyone else still in the same ship as him or received a TWE this past week?

Same boat here. In limbo with the academy but plan B in full action. My Ds hasn't given up hope and is prepared for a last minute phone call, but realizes the fate.

Wow. This thread is one of the most informative post regarding "Holds" I have read yet. The lawsuit "Domine v. Kumar, 2012" really gives some useful insight on the admissions process. I sure hope we're not one of those families waiting until mid-May to get an answer. At least, we have an ROTC scholarship as a plan B.

You shouldn't revive old threads....but I agree.

Also where are you from in Texas? I got appointed from TX-14 (Weber).

I'd imagine plebe year would be unforgiving for students who actually sued to get in via a writ of mandamus.

Do "principal appointees" from USMMA to NMMI have to re-apply to USMMA for subsequent admission upon successfully attending NMMI?
