From what my DS told us, cadets with a D or lower don't make the cut. Apparently that is what happened to a few of those that did not make it this year.
There is ample assistance to the cadets to do well. The class sizes are very small so there is a good student to teacher ratio. They are available for the cadets that need help. There is also a lot of tutoring available. A lot of the cadets make up their own study groups and all this helps them succeed. There are a number of academic Saturdays in which the cadets are required to study instead of being able to go off post.
If your DS or DD really wants into KP, they will put forth the discipline and effort at NMMI to succeed. This experience will certainly put them in a good position when they do make it to KP in so many ways.
