The Reapplying Club - C/O 2017!

I'm assuming we cam answer some of the questions which are phrased in the past tense (e.g. Have you attended college after high school?) in an affirmative if we will be attending college. Any thoughts on this?
I would word it like this, "I have graduated from high school and will be attending xyz college/university."

Best of luck to everyone! I hope to see you all next year.
You too Haley!

Hi I am reapplying to the Academy again this year. I will be going to Mary Baldwin College in the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership for this year though.

Sounds good, Fry. Also, I know how to spell "can"; I just noticed that.

Is anyone past prospect status yet?

Yes I finished my PCQ July 2nd and I just received my candidate packet this morning. Thankfully, I saved most of my information on microsoft word from last year so the essays and resumes shouldn't take so long! Good luck to you this time around! :thumb:

Nathan,

I don't know if you are re-using or tweaking last years essays, but JMPO, I think if that is your intention you should re-think it.

I say that only because you are re-applying and essays are a % of the WCS. Unless, you are 1000% positive it was the best thing since hot sliced bread, it may be your essay last yr was just that point or two to hold you off from getting a BFE and a TWE. Submitting the same essay again might end in the same result.

Not implying that is your intention, just saying if it is, think about it before you submit it.

DS was also updated to candidate--here we go again! Good luck to all who are reapplying.

AFROTC Nomination

I did not get an appointment last year and am reapplying this year. I am (this year) attending AFROTC simultaneously. Does anyone know how to request (if you can) a nomination from my ROTC commander?

Talk with the commander, I'm sure he would be more than willing to help.

Agreed, talk to the CoC as soon as possible. Typically, good units have a sit down very early on, tell him/her right there that this is your intention. They are the ones to submit the nom.

Kids are afraid to do this, I think in part because they feel it is disloyal, but that is nothing farther from the truth. AFROTC CoC's deal with this every single yr., and their goal is not AFROTC, it is AF! That means they want whatever is best for the AF, not the det.

Telling them early on means they can assist you earlier, be it they think your PFT is low, re-take the SAT, or maybe another cadet is applying and how you stack against them.

No commander wants to be told in the end of Sept., that you intend to re-apply and the ROTC rec is due next week. Fastest way to get a eh-eh rec!

Keep an open mind, but more importantly just enjoy life while you are in the moment. Don't worry about this now. Enjoy your friends, and your family. Workout so you will max the PFT, but otherwise than that, your AFROTC det. will inform you of how it will work regarding noms in Aug/Sept.

Will I need to initiate this sit down? Also, I just received word I was awarded the IB diploma! Do you think I should have my test scores sent to USAFA? They are only 4s and 5s.

Thank You very much! The ROTC NCO (New cadet Orientation, but I think it's a subtly funny pun) day is in August and I think that is when the "sit-down" will be. I will inform them at that time. Thanks!
