The Reapplying Club

This question is best suited for the DodMERB forum.

I reapplied this past year and I had to retake the DoDMERB. I did have a waiver last year so maybe that's why? If I'm reapplying again, do I have to retake it or is there someone I need to tell that I already took it last year?

If you are reapplying again and did your DoDMERB last year, you do NOT have to do it again since it is good for two (2) years.

My DS went there on a Falcon Foundation Scholarship this fall. It is an amazing program and we cannot say enough good things about it!! One semester then he came home and attended the local community college for 2nd semester while waiting for his appoinment. We feel he is much more confident in his decision now and has 54+ "prepster" friends to go through BCT with. If you have questions call the Durbecks (Directors) directly and talk to them, they are wonderful!!! It has been discussed by other alumni in different threads.....

Thank you Falcon15.
is it late to apply for Falcon Foundation Scholarship? and how to apply it ?

You can't apply for the Falcon Foundation scholarship. This scholarship is something that is done by the FF and USAFA together and the recipients are chosen from the current "class" of candidates that have NOT been offered appointments.

If you are a candidate and receive a "TWE" then you'll be considered.

Steve, my son receive a TWE last tuesday, how can he can be considered ..?
thank you Steve.

It is a question the ALOs ask the candidates, "If you are not offered an appointment are you interested in prep options?" As long as your son answered that he was interested in the opportunity he has a chance of being offered a Falcon Foundation scholarship.

I also have not seen anyone posting that they have received a Falcon Foundation scholarship, so they have probably not yet sent out the letters.

Best of luck!

I don't think I ever got that question from my ALO--I just got the letter from the Falcon Foundation late April of Last Year--I didn't really know anything about this program until the letter actually came in

Most every ALO I know of will tell the academy that the candidate, if not offered an appointment, should be considered for USAFA Prep School AND Falcon Foundation.

I am pretty certain your son will be considered. Whether or not he'll be offered a scholarship, I have no idea.

I was asked this question during my interview and showed a large interest in it when my ALO asked me.

tlangford, unfortunately when my son had an interview, they do not ask that question. when my son did the application, it says Col A as his ALO, but when he was interviewed, the A ALO bring NEW ALO along with him, and later on his NEW ALO name appeared on his application.
So...as long as I read all the thread here on this forum, everybody mention their ALO very often, and their ALO seem so so helpful.
I do not think that my son's ALO do like their ALO, and I just realize after I join this forum and read the catalog that mention how should an ALO help or do to candidate.

But it is ok, this is a learning process I guess. Thank you for sharing tlangford.

prep appointments

Does anybody have any idea when the USAFA prep school appointments are sent out? I thought it was a couple of day - two weeks after the USAFA appointments came out but as far as I can tell nobody has posted that they have received a prep appt or falcon scholarship yet.

I believe it was posted on here somewhere that the prep/falcon scholars would not be done until the end of April.

Hi (using my mom's account), my brother is in the AFA class of 2013

I did not receive an appointment this year, but I am strongly considering attending Norwich University (a private military school) and doing a rigorous engineering program, participating in AFROTC, and Cold Weather Mountain Rescue Team (and lots of other activities).

I read from a poster above (tailwind) that 30% of cadets entering have re-applied, and was wondering where some documentation or proof of this statement would be located/confirmed.

My dream is being an Officer in the Air Force, and attending the Air Force Academy, I'm just wondering what are everyone's opinions for the best options for upping my "resume" for AFA, because I do not think it was very competitive this year (3.5 HS GPA, 27 ACT Score, no history of JROTC or Civil Air Patrol).

All help/information greatly appreciated =)

Last year, my Falcon offer was postmarked 20 Apr--My guess would be that Falcon Foundation Scholars will be notified early next week!

Airpower 2013, when I mentioned the 30%, what I meant is....our USAFA counselor said in the past, about 30% of an incoming class came from post high school nominees, meaning they were in college, prep school or Falcon scholar or in military. I did not mean 30% of TWE nominees had already reapplied. So in summary, reappliers are looked on favorably (if all other stats look great).
