I attended AIM this summer and my interview was used for my application -- I believe all AIM interviews will transfer over.DD just submitted her ap last night. She is hoping her AIM interview transfers over.
It doesn’t transfer over and replace the interview. Also, the interview this year is supplemental. Some people are asked to interview, others aren’t. I had an AIM interview and was requested to take a real one too. I’m pretty sure that it all just depends on if they’re unsure if they want you or not.DD just submitted her ap last night. For many people including myself the AIM interview was the real one.I had an AIM interview and was requested to take a real one too.
Really? I wonder why I (and many other people I’ve spoken to) had to take it twice then. I was asked different questions during the AIM and real one, and the real one lasted longer. For many people including myself the AIM interview was the real one.
It probably depends on how much interaction you have had with admissions. When my DS applied for the class of 2024 he had lots of interaction with admissions; he had visited his AO, had been on an admissions tour, had been to AIM (back in the days when it wasn’t virtual) and had attended a Genesis event. He then received an email from one of AOs stating that he would be in x city on this date and if DS wanted an interview to let him know but it was optional. DS decided to attend the interview using the thought process then anytime you can get face time it anyone involved in the admissions decisions it should be seized.Really? When he was offered an appointment how did you draw the conclusions that AOs input doesn’t have a lot of impact on admission decisions? It does appear that USCGA Admission Officers input on candidates have a lot of impact. A couple years ago, my DS met his USCGA Amissions Officer (who came out to our state to meet candidates), she later asked my DS to do a talk with her at a different Texas High School. He had attended AIM and she liked having him say a few words to the EA & RA Parents & candidates. He was appointed EA, but ended up choosing USNA. I think its good to engage the Admissions Officers. Good luck to all.
I believe they were actually trying to say the opposite. When he was offered an appointment how did you draw the conclusions that AOs input doesn’t have a lot of impact on admission decisions?
That’s a really good observation. With Virtual AIM, I only spoke with the students in charge of my group and other AIMsters. I also never met with an AO during my visits. When asked to interview, the AO wanted to schedule it for either the day of or next day, so I had assumed that it was only because they couldn’t decide on my application; I applied EA and this was in November. I’m definitely not complaining that my AIM interview didn’t transfer over if it’s what led to my appointment. I agree with your DS. Every chance to speak with admissions is beneficial! It probably depends on how much interaction you have had with admissions. Yes my mistake for some reason I read does as doesn’tI believe they were actually trying to say the opposite.
I think the AO DOES have considerable impact on a candidates viability. DS applied for Early Admission. I can't recall the month. The Admission s Officer said something like, I will put in a special note into his application file. DS also won the Award for best physical fitness while he was at AIM and the 06 in charge of admissions, brought him (and his female counterpart winner), on stage to recognize them. This also probably impacted his EA acceptance decision. When he was offered an appointment how did you draw the conclusions that AOs input doesn’t have a lot of impact on admission decisions?
In human error science we call that a Slip.Yes my mistake for some reason I read does as doesn’t

I gather from your post that you are getting the interview not requested during EA. Seems a positive move for you. Hope it goes well.I was deferred and just got requested for an interview today!
Yes I am hoping my prepster will get an early notification.Things should start to pick up shortly with RA deadline and current CGAS prepsters submitting their applications this month!
