I'm going to begin applying to USNA, USAFA, USAFA, and USCGA asap (July when I get the kit/application, I've already completed the PCQ for USNA and USAFA). I want to get all pieces of information possible before I even get the application. Can I get a step by step admission process 1, 2, 3, etc to help me, thanks.
And if possible can I have some tips that helped you guys get through the process/organize.

It’s April and the 2024 year group admissions cycle hasn’t even come to an end yet. Take a deep breath, go to the respective admissions a pages and do your research. If you still have questions, use the search engine on this site. There’s a wealth of information and tips out there, but it’s your job to discover it.

+1 to ArmyAFMom. Each academy's web site lists the specific steps in some fashion. I'm sure most indicate the deadline dates.

My DS was just like you in 2019 except for no USMA.

+1 to the above. Read the source material at each site carefully and learn all you can and follow the instructions. Each academy is similar but has some key differences in their processes.

Outside of that, the best tip is to put forward the best application you can in the timeliest manner possible. If you have all your things together in August and you feel you can't improve then submit it early. If you need more time to practice for the CFA or need one more crack at the SAT/ACT, then do that. Just put the best packet forward you can and control what you can control. There are a lot of things in this process you cannot control (Nomination competition for one. My analogy is the 235lb. 6'3" middle linebacker with a 4.0 GPA who decides to apply in your Congressional District THIS year).

The earlier you can get to the medical portion the better. DoDMERB can be a roadblock for some if you think you will need some sort of waiver. Be honest with yourself here.

My DS submitted his USNA app in August 2019 and was CPR from then until mid-April when he was waitlisted and TWE'd in June. He applied early August for USCGA (EA) was deferred to RA and eventually, TWE'd in April. He applied to USAFA 3rd, completed his app and interview in Mid-November, got an LOA in December, and an appointment in January.

Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Good Luck!

I posted this earlier today. It may help, though it’s written for a HS freshman who is getting started early. You are at a good stage. Doing the research at the primary sources and building out your action plan is part of the testing aspect of this lengthy process.

Some of the usual advice that appears every year:

“Submit your BEST application as EARLY as you can.”

“Do this yourself, take ownership of the process.”

“Read prompts and directions carefully.”

“Do consult with parents about medical history. Do not self-diagnose. Be sure to read all the helpful stuff in the DODMERB menu, especially FAQs and process items BEFORE you do that section.”

“Get your DODMERB process rolling as early as possible to allow for DQ remediation if required.”

“Don’t procrastinate on your CFA until the last month of the application window, because things can happen such as illness, injury, bad weather, sudden unavailability of your test administrator or video person (for USMA).”

“Practice the individual parts of the CFA, ensuring your form is correct. Practice it exactly as administered every so often to get a feel for your likely score.”

Very well said.

I realize it might be a bit late, but try to find lots of leadership & community service opportunities while you still can. Do everything you can to improve your application. Another thing some people over look is the Interview for your nominations. I had the great opportunity to speak with a LtC that used to be on the admissions board for USAFA last year while touring Eglin AFB, provided to me by the Vice Wing commander last year. Getting to ask him questions and retaining his contact info was a great opportunity. When talking to him, he said that a lot of times, if your application is competitive, the notes & information set forth by your nomination interviews are often what can lead to an appointment. So somewhat prepare for these, but not too much. If you practice too much it will come out robotic, which is bad. Plus, you have no Idea what questions they will ask outside of the few common ones, which you can find on this forum. They branch off your previous answers, so just be yourself and provide thorough answers. Granted I'm applying for 2025 & haven't gone though an interview, but this is what the man from the admissions panel told me.

Just focus on making your app better

Good luck!

Get organized, read, re-read and then read again all you can on each site. I would suggest practicing your essay writing, and if possible figure out a way to ask a mentor, teacher etc to participate in practice interviews. And, you have the time, read through stickies on this forum. Stay out of trouble and keep your grades up. Good luck to you.

Besides the academy web sites, you should be reviewing the nomination process on your Senators and Congressman's web pages. Each member of Congress handles the nomination quite differently and their deadlines are much earlier than you might expect.

Also attend Service Academy open houses, if your nominating sources hold them. Virtually, check out the Admissions pages on Facebook and Instagram. Admissions has been holding live Q&A's on Instagram. They also have a Twitter.
