Sad news from Paris, France. Dame Olivia Mary de Havilland, DBE, two-time Oscar award-winning actress...passed in her sleep Saturday night. She was 104.

IMHO...she was the last of the Golden Age actors/actresses. And yes, as a young boy I had such a crush on her! Of course, I didn't know that the movies I was watching were made 30-40 years earlier.

Ahh...a legend passes...

Definitely one of the best. She was exceptionally active in troop support work. This was a pic in 1944 with a sailor at an Alaskan Naval Station.

Challenged the movie studio's version of the "Reserve clause" which bound stars to studios. Her win allows stars to work for any movie studio. It's called, "The Olivia De Havilland Rule."

Also she had a big crush on Errol Flynn, her co-star in several movies. In the 70's, she was on the Dinah Shore talk show & when the topic came up...well here it is at 3:04

Everybody loves Miss Melanie. She was still attractive even in her eighties... for an 80 year old.
