Hi All

Any current or former Mids that are alumni of TJHSST?

And other candidates from TJHSST on this board?

Yes, there are, but this is probably not the best place to ask. I know of one but would not be comfortable passing along their info, either in this forum or privately. You should really check with the Guidance Office at TJ to get that information and be put in contact with current and/or former Mids, assuming they are willing to share that info.

That appears to be the name of a h.s. You could also just ask your questions here in public since many applicants probably have similar questions about applying regardless of where they are going to h.s.

Time2, TJ is one of the top public hs's in the nation, located in No VA. It is a magnet school. You must test in to attend. Their avg SAT scores are in the high 1500's out of 1600.

FWIW I don't see how this is not the best place to ask if someone on this forum attended their HS and USNA. They didn't ask for names. They were just trying to see from a unique school perspective the insight of other posters that attended their school. TJ is public and most rankings from magazine perspectives, place them always at the top 10 in the nation.

NoVA is highly competitive, but TJ although academically renown is not athletically competitive in this area, and we all know it is the whole candidate. They may be just looking for pure guidance. How will this impact them if they have this great gpa, rank, school profile, but no sports?

I believe that you have a legitimate question for the forum, but the weight you place on the answer should not be as great as that of your local guidance department. Based on my personal professional experience in the field, Guidance Counselors will help you understand where you stand as an individual based on your own merit. I have experienced several individuals from the prestigious HS transferring into a local public HS in the midwest. A very unique community to another very unique community. What was a high performance in Alexandria became pedestrian in the middle of the country due to the resources that were naturally occuring from HS faculty tie ins at a major research University. The community has an unbroken line of mids, many of these young men and women experiencing the harried rush from coursework at the University back to sports practice at their HS campus. My point, there is strength in variation. Great question, glean what information you can from this source, but do look to your local experts and their collective knowledge. Good luck in your pursuits and never give up on your dream.

Thank you all

My intent was not to pry, if somebody doesn't want to come forward that is cool, no worries.

Pima, you are correct, I was looking for a unique perspective from former TJ students who have attended a service academy. Specifically, how does the workload compare. I'm a two sport athelete, and obviously have to juggle my time extensively.

Not looking for any flame or rage on how the daily HS routine cannot possibly compare to a service academy, I fully realize that. I am looking for somebody who can provide a comparison.

A career in the Navy is a dream of mine, (regardless of what my F-15E pilot unlcle says :), but I feel an attraction to the Navy.

Tell your uncle the Navy flies cool jets too.
