Told someone online to shut up and they are going to report me to the naval academy for being unprofessional can I get my offer rescinded

Good time to learn the lesson that not all voices on the internet deserve your time or energy. Yet alone your response.

I hear Elsa singing ….”let it go”. Also while following @A1Janitor’s advice. Purge your social media. Have a break up with your younger less mature self.

I also hear my younger self telling my own kids, all grown up now, “shut up isn’t nice”.

OP is likely smarter than that knee jerk reaction response.

Here’s a reference from USNA, in case you haven’t done this yet:

And yes, appointees have lost their appointments over inappropriate social media comments, but if all you have done is exactly what you said above, which is essentially not being polite, that will probably not rise to that level.

And, this thread started by @NavyHoops is helpful:

Initial military training, whether it’s plebe summer, OCS, or boot camp is a great opportunity to dump social media. You most likely won’t be able to use it for several months anyway (can’t speak for all branches) so it’s kinda like kicking an addiction of sorts. Issues with social media are only become worse, and can’t really see a future with it as a Naval Officer (especially if you are looking to do some high speed/low-drag secret squirrel action).

Follow the 48-Hour Rule -- it will keep you in good stead.

For those who don't know . . . it means wait 48 hours to reply after something that has really annoyed / angered you. You may get over it and no longer feel a need to reply. At a minimum, your response likely will be tempered.
