Too Outdated to Use?

I'm just curious if the government shutdown has anything to do with them supposedly being behind
No

This has been discussed before over and over again. USNA including the admissions team are funded under the Dept of Defense budget which was passed and they were not shut down.
Both USMA and USAFA are similarly covered under the DoD budget. USCGA and USMMA are under different budget authorities (non-DoD) and their funding situations can be and are different.

I'm just curious if the government shutdown has anything to do with them supposedly being behind (got that info from another who posted that 40% of appointments were done as of Feb 21 when they attended a CVW). Who knows with admissions though, anything could happen I suppose. I just want a darn answer at this point . Nobody from my district has heard anything yet other than one for West Point.
Since DoD was fully funded over the shutdown, the academies were not affected.... so it couldn't have slowed things down. I suppose there might be other reasons but I expect they've simply decided to take more time this year.

If it is true that a mass amount of TWE's went out on 22 March of last year, it was the 4th Thursday. This year, 2019, the 4th Thursday in March is the 28th. So maybe that is the "delay?" But again, the real date to be concerned about is the 3rd Monday in April 2019, also known as April 15th.

Good to know, the waiting game continues.

But Mar 22 2018 was a waxing crescent moon and Mar 28 2019 is a waning crescent moon so something is not right here. :D April 15 would be just past the waxing crescent like Mar of last year, so I think that's probably the date, maybe a day or two before. Always looks to the stars for answers my friends.

That danged full Moon has been messing with me on my early morning dog walks. This morning was the first morning I have been able to see the constellation of Orion, without all that light pollution from that big gray ball up there. :)

My friends …. Follow the Spring and Neap tides and ye shall have your answer.

April 15th 99% will know. I feel like this year we have not seen a lot of TWEs yet, but that is just my perception. Bottom line... as we have said for months, prepare to wait until April 15th and have a plan B.

^ This, but I will go a step further and up the ante by saying its closer to 99.9% by April 15. (There are always exceptions and stories about someone getting word the night before I Day...). Despite all the speculation and analysis on this Forum, I don't see any indication that Admissions is behind the curve or doing anything different than they have done in the past.

In the years on this on this forum I can recall one person who had not received a TWE, BFE or wait list notification by April 15th. The candidate called admissions and was provided a full run down of why and they kept that candidate in the loop the entire time. Yes wait list is a different status of ‘waiting’ but you know you that and have the choice to remain on the list. As the class forms, they will cut that list down even more. They also make it clear on the wait list that to continue with a Plan B. So trying to line up dates, speculate on this Thursday with another, or anything else will not do anything except increase your stress. As I have said before... if the military is your goal get used to waiting. You will spend your entire career waiting for big decisions.

The post says that admissions will mail the TWEs by April 1st, ensuring all applicants will then have their letter in their mailbox before April 15th. That is how I interpreted the post.

Sorry, but I would not spend any time looking through past threads or social media postings for additional insight. USNA Admissions has stated that "The USNA uses a "rolling admissions" selection process. Most candidates will be notified of their final status by April 15."

So... take a deep breath and try to relax. Most candidates will be notified of their final status by April 15.

For those of us who need a medical waiver, wouldn’t we receive an update from DoDmerb before that date regarding our status? If we are supposed to, I would probably just assume the worst.

If you have been DQ'd by DoDMERB, then each appropriate commissioning source (in this case, USNA) would need to approve the waiver. If the medical waiver can not be cleared by 04/15 and USNA wants the candidate as a member of the Class of 2023, then notification may push beyond the 04/15 date.
