I won't post a link or mention her name but a 23 year old ensign died during "small boat training" on the USS Jason Dunham according to the article available on military related web sites. She was reportedly working on SWO quals. The article did not get specific on the details which as an IDC, I am highly interested. She was MEDEVAC'ed to Jordan where the pronouncement of death occurred.

Training is as dangerous as combat. Life at sea is always hazardous.

RIP ma'am.

Fair winds and following seas to ENS Sarah Mitchell, USN.

Everyday military service in an operational, industrial environment brings its own share of risks. Could be a sudden pitch/roll/yaw to the small boat, a momentary loss of balance catching one wrong-footed, a fall and a hard bang of the head against a steel anything - it’s a dynamic setting where all kinds of things can and do happen.
