My son had his deposited in his account directly and it wasn't used for anything else, to my knowledge.
The Commandant of Midshipmen has released a course of action notice on the transition to 36 companies (http://www.usna.edu/Commandant/Noti...ANSITITIONING_THE BRIGADE_TO_36_COMPANIES.pdf).
When a mid is reimbursed for travel is it "money that you never see"? In other words, does it go towards paying for something else?
jumprope: Let me clarify this comment for you.......often parents pay for airline tickets.......mids are reimbursed via direct deposit in their account. The parents never see that money again!
Mids are also often reimbursed for travel to bowl games and hotel while there. It is offered when appropriate, the mids show paid receipt, and eventually reimbursement shows up in their account. The past two bowl games included reimbursement for airfare and hotel, I believe.
Also, the Brigade goes from 30 companies to 36 next year, so lots of changes in store at end of this semester.
Not happening. At least not next year.
I was at the February 10-12 CVW and all the Mids said it was
ANNAPOLIS - The Naval Academy has decided against expanding from 30 to 36 the
number of companies in the Brigade of Midshipmen, an academy spokesman said.
"It was determined that increasing the number of companies in the brigade was not
as high a fiscal priority, or as important, as some other higher fiscal requirements,"
academy spokeswoman Deborah Goode said.
Agreed - Plebe son told us a month ago that the split to 36 companies was not happening because of budgetary reasons and that there were no more discussions on who was leaving their company.
