TWE Mass Wave

Good morning all!

Just thought I’d share that I got my TWE this morning, wondering if there are many others who did as well as we are quickly approaching the deadline. FYI I will be applying next year again

so sorry to hear this afm! (sigh)

Sorry to hear afm. I don’t think DS has checked portal status yet this AM.

Glad to hear you are resolved to try again. Best of luck!
so sorry to hear, so happy to hear you will try again

That is terrific we are still waiting but we had the tough conversation with our son last night odds are not in our favor, he calmly said then he will enlist. I don't think we have the power to change his mind. He declined 2 offers today :(

All I want I say is everyone should be proud to have made this far. Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly- Robert F. Kennedy.

Still CPR here too
Rudy,
Doesn’t look like you want to bite on that USAFA Appointment yet ;)

LOL...I want to bite on that one but it's the DS that is wanting to wait until he has results from all schools before finally pulling the trigger on something :D. I thought we would have heard before now since he has been CPR since Sept or Oct.

DS is doing exactly the same thing. :-/ We have been CPR since August.

Odds are in your favor until they say no. My DD is also CPR. Don’t give up the ship!

I never thought this would be my reply, but my dd got her twe last Thursday and it turns out that she is grateful that she got it. Don't get me wrong. She was hysterical all day. She put her heart and soul into applying for the USNA for the last 2 years. She has been living, breathing, eating the thought of being in the academy, but last Friday we visited her full-ride plan B and she realized that the college will really be a better choice. She will do ROTC and join the military after her 4 years. She can have the best of both worlds now. So, although, I know those TWE's are devastating, totally look on the bright side of things too. We met an amazing young man who went ROTC Air Force after getting his Navy TWE and he said it was the best thing. He got to be an adult in the real world and not live military 24/7.....(a bright side) :) He's graduating in a few weeks and going Air Force. Does mechanical engineering and will be doing their pilot program.

I totally agree. There are so many positives for ROTC.

Thank you for words of encouragement. Good luck

@Mommyesq
If your DS chooses to enlist be heartened that he is joining the world’s strongest services and going to have an amazing adventure.

I hear regret in your text and I just want to encourage you to see the amazing possibilities which are in his future. You obviously raised a determined and service-oriented lad and I hope you feel immense pride in who he is becoming... I do! It’s not the easiest path open to him, and I cannot help but admire him for choosing it.

Best wishes for his continuing to flourish!

Wish all of our kids could get into the Academy. My DS put his deposit (Purdue) on his Plan B and is very excited to go MO ROTC. We are all still holding out hope for the Academy as it has always been his dream.
Ditto... almost - Just got back from PFM and DS is "good" with AFROTC but still a hold out... sigh...

The one thing I will say for all others who may get a TWE is to make sure you find a Plan B that you genuinely like and not just that you believe it gives you the best opportunity to get in when/if you reapply. As competitiveness among congressional districts and the National Pool fluctuates every year, do not just go somewhere expecting that its a one and done deal but go somewhere that, should worst come to worst and you do not make it to the Academy, you will be perfectly happy being at said Plan B as well.

This. First, a veteran of these boards, I can't tell you how many candidates with TWEs who are gung ho to reapply to USNA around April 15 totally change their minds by Oct. 15. Why? They love where they ended up. Love the school, love the city, love their friends, love the classes, etc.

Second, don't assume your USNA chances are "better" the second (or third) time around. They may or may not be. I've seen successful reapplicants and unsuccessful ones. Thus, totally agree with the quoted post that you should choose someplace you (think you'll) love and then give it 100%. That way, whether your second shot at USNA succeeds or fails, it's a win-win because you're happy where you are.
