TWE received

NavyFam and jml1717,
As I'm sure you are aware many who apply the first time do not get in, but know there is certainly reason for optisim. DS buddy applied to WP out of HS and was rejected, he used his AROTC scholarship for a year and reapplied to WP and was accepted. Tell you kids to keep their chin up and press on. Best of luck to them both.

Thank you for starting this thread. The kind words mean everything right now. Roller coaster ride class of 2020 hopefuls here we come.

According to the nominations thread on this forum, one can already begin re-applying for the VP nom..... and so it begins again.

For those who plan to reapply, I strongly recommend waiting a bit. Take some time to embrace your new Plan A -- get excited about your summer, attending college, doing NROTC . . . whatever your plans now are. As a college applicant, USNA won't look at your packet until first semester grades are in (usually mid-to-late January) so you have plenty of time. Even for MOC noms, you have at least 6 months, and in most cases, more than that.

As others who've reapplied have artfully stated, you will mature over the next 6-10 months as you transition from a h.s. student to a college student. You want that "new person" to come through in your applications to USNA and MOCs which is why you should wait to write your essays, etc. Also, along the way, many find they LOVE their lives and that what at first was a "Plan B" has turned out to be better than they ever imagined. Give yourself a chance to experience that.

If your desire to attend USNA still burns, then go for it! But keep in mind it's not the only path to a commission and definitely not the only path to success and happiness in life.

@USNA 1985, Thank you. We have received a lot of great of insight and good advice from you on this forum. What you have stated above is exactly where my Ds's head is at. He is excited about plan B and wants time to own that and see where that leaves his heart. He is a recruited athlete at plan B with a very nice merit scholarship. I am glad to hear he has time to process and see how he feels. The concept of growth makes such great sense, the growth he has had in the last 8 months is something I could never have imagined. He is engaged in his future so I know he will end up where he should. Thank you!

So sorry to hear. Know how hard these kids work for their goal. On the positive side it does seem a large number of the second timers are getting good news!

My DS received the TWE last year, went to plan B school, reapplied and received an appointment this year. Don't give up on your dream. Work on the areas you need to improve and good luck next year.
