Two appointments same neighborhood.

Congrats. Do you attend a charter school or magnet school in New York. If so it happens more often since many HYPO kids come from different districts to the same school. But like you said if from the same block or district, it is rare unless you or your friend have Presidential, JROTC Noms in addition to MOC Noms. We have 3 kids Appointed to USNA from the same district up through January. 1 kid has USNA Supe Nom, 1 JROTC, 1 District Rep. So this makes total sense since only 1 can have District Rep Nom. Remaining 9 may fall under the NWL and hopefully few can get picked up with an Appointment. I'm not an expert on this topic of how exactly candidates get moved around in the Appointment process, but this makes sense to me.

No just a public high school in Indiana.

Congrats. I am sure it will be nice to be going through this together with someone you know and see a familiar face while at USAFA. Also helps the parents too. It can be common in some areas and others not so common. Northern VA, Norfolk, San Diego... pretty common. Public school in Indiana, probably not so common. Congrats!

I have classmates that are twins that were admitted the same year and maybe more unique is that my daughter and one of her classmates from the same high school received appointments last year and neither are charged to our local MOC.

One is a Blue Chip that did not even apply for a nomination and my DD was charged as an ROTC appointment.

One of our veteran posters; Fencersmother; had both her sons; TWINS; receive an appointment the same year. (Class of 2012). I guess that's as close to the "Same Neighborhood" as you can get.
What would be more interesting if one didnt get in but lets say on paper they were identical in terms of grades, test scores, and all the rest

Very cool to have that happen. Last year my DS’s high school had three students admitted and attend USAFA. All made through recognition and are doing well.

Kind of funny to see people from the same school getting appointments. I asked around teachers and staff from my school and as far as they could remember no students have went to a service academy, and just one other applied about 8 years ago

When my DD was a 4C (class of 2015) there were 3 other young women from her 700 student high school at the Academy.

Fencersmother might chime in to correct me, but if I recall correctly, one of the twins was recruited athlete in fencing. The other wasn’t recruited. Also, I believe both boys were home schooled.
