Uhhhhh .... Portal status change for my son ......

They were both back in the same review. His NROTC one is taking a tick longer, but it appears that the Academy decided that with the paperwork he submitted for his non-issue, they may have just reverted back to the waiver he already had in place.

BUT ..... until he sees the actual offer in his portal and makes the decision, everything is still up in the air.

As everyone knows ...... he crashed and burned on the first one, but the second one is looking pretty good so far. :yllol:

Sir, as for the GWU option? As we've seen so much in the media lately, if you keep saying things loudly and often, people start to believe it is true, even when it is totally not. :bleh2:
I understand you don't want to jinx a good thing, but I think the GWU thing is in the bag......I can make some calls if you like just to nail it down......😂

Per my kid, there were no stated conditions to be met. He had a medical hiccup during the last week before 4/15 that required additional doctor's crap, but it was a non-issue when all was said and done. So, assuming waivers flew around offices, and offer is on the table. There was nothing he could see that was left to do.

I'm still on pins and needles. If he gets an appointment and accepts, he would report almost exactly 30 years to the day after I did for I-Day. But, I quit during Plebe summer for various reasons (which I now regret, to this day). I'm worried my baggage hangs over him and will influence all his decisions.

Being a parent is f'ing hard ....... :frown:

Being a parent is hard. I worried my family connection motivated my son and if he didn’t like it enough to stay he would due to the history. He assures me he thinks for himself and decides for his needs and goals. Gives me some relief.

Hang in there. You guys are on the minds of many here on the SAF and we will root for your kiddo regardless of the path he chooses.

I have the utmost faith in you and your son. He's worked very, very hard for this and it will be well deserved.

Not a parent, but remember your DS has another year under his belt. Plus NROTC. If he chooses USNA, he is much more informed about what this decisions means and lies ahead than even 365 days ago. He sounds like a great young man. Best of luck!

So, it looks like the only thing they are waiting on is the final waiver for medical. Once/if that goes through, his will get his appointment.

My son had already been in contact with the Academy medical team, and they said they are already in the process of pursuing the waiver.

More hurry up and wait! The saga continues ..........

So happy for you and your son. It is tough on the parent sitting on the sidelines, and I remember your post trying to figure out the available appointments for each nomination source.

Speaking of sidelines, hope to see you at Army-Navy! I will be on the opposite sideline.
