This post needs pulled down. The post calls out Mids and future Mids by name and for some even identifies their Company.

And it adds nothing to the mission/purpose of this forum.

... sometimes we catched a glimpse of Higher Grace.

* Ukraine Aid & USNA Class of 2028

* General Grant's Victory in the Battle of Vicksburg, 4th July 1863.

* General Lee's retreat from the Battle of Gettysburg, 4th July 1863.

...

Personally I don’t think it’s cool to name or discuss members of the military as they relate to relatives of the chain of command. This man is 3rd in line for the presidency.

And children or young adults of elected officials should be off limits, not pawns or fodder for nepotism insinuation.

But that’s just me. Politics is dirty enough.

Nothing posted here isn’t already public information that hasn’t been published in many newspapers AND made available to the public by the United States Navy. Furthermore, the public has a RIGHT to know that those with the elected privilege of offering a nomination to a federal service academy are doing so in a manner that is legal and acceptable to their constituents (and I have no reason to think this is not the case). In fact, the service assignment of every USNA graduate is publicly available information.

... so I looked at monthly comparables in Ukraine, Czechia, Poland, and Slovakia; rent $600, electric $160, water $7, internet $25, groceries $210, dining $140, laundry $15, transport $25, Gym $40, phone $20.

* Coffee Shack. Simple no nonsense shack offering free cup of coffee and two pandesals. Absolutely private endeavor with no entanglements with NGOs. Will work with local officials.

* Ends. Means (free food) justifies the ends (gratitude to Brave Ukrainians; clear conscience).

* Border Towns (only). In case the situation turns to $h1+$, then escape is guaranteed.

Your hunger for action, fast roping into Gaza or reconnoitering the Ukrainian border, makes me think of my favorite Talking Heads song, Life During Wartime. Here are some of the lyrics:

Heard of a van that's loaded with weapons
Packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway
A place where nobody knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I'm getting used to it now

Lived in a brownstone, lived in a ghetto
I've lived all over this town
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco
This ain't no fooling around
No time for dancing, or lovey-dovey
I ain't got time for that now

Transmit the message to the receiver
Hope for an answer someday
I got three passports, a couple of visas
You don't even know my real name
High on a hillside, the trucks are loading
Everything's ready to roll

I got some groceries, some peanut butter
To last a couple of days
But I ain't got no speakers, ain't got no headphones
Ain't got no records to play
Why stay in college? Why go to night school?
Gonna be different this time

Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving
You ought to get you some sleep
Burned all my notebooks, what good are notebooks?
They won't help me survive
My chest is aching, burns like a furnace
The burning keeps me alive

I am happy to have read about Speaker Johnson’s son’s appointment to the Naval Academy. It is nice to see decision makers getting more serious about the consequences of their decisions when they personally understand the risks.

I think the Talking Heads were writing about some dystopian-like urban struggle pre- apocalypse maybe? 🤨

Love that song …

I think you're right.

I also think @severn is a good guy and that his heart is in the right place. The song just kept popping into my head.

As it relates specifically to this thread, the more young people from advantaged backgrounds who go into military service, the better.

... so it's my fate, I'm taking all this Higher Grace.

*0600 today
- I was sitting on this secluded beach, still dark, to do yoga and swim. One kilometer to my left, there are constant takeoffs of KC-135, F-22 (monstrous roaring),
C-17; three kilometers in the front, Navy destroyers, submarines, and supply ships are passing by.

*Gratitude. Thinking of our military, Ukraine Aid - USNA Class of 2028, DS USNA Class of 2026. While stretching facing up, I can only imagine that someone up there is saying, "OK, you got all these expensive hardware, now protect Democracy."

* Morning Colors. While swimming, the Morning Colors sounded from four kilometers to my right. I paused and faced the Flag.

I loved the Talking Heads. And it’s too late for me to tie those references to Speaker Johnson and Severn. Just sayin’.

If you want to listen to one of the greatest speaches I ever heard look up Robert Gates and his address to the graduates of the Naval Academy in 2011. I was there and as a former service member it was the the most moving and heart felt dedication to those who serve that I have ever heard.
