Hello all!

While waiting to see if I will receive an appointment this year, I was wondering when I was most likely to receive a call. Personally, looking at last year's acceptance forum is a bit tricky due to the inconsistent spacing and I was also curious how the spikes in appointments compared to this year. Long story short, I created a spreadsheet and graph comparing last year's appointments with this year's.

I am working on creating each category (Falcon, re-applicant, and direct) separately so that everyone can see when they should be hearing something. I wanted to share the data with all of you though so that you could also view it and see the trends this year.

One thing that I have noticed this year is that admissions is about 4 days behind compared to last year. Not bad for being in a pandemic! That being said, I know many of you have been awaiting March 10th, but I wouldn't stress if you didn't hear anything by then. I assume that this year's big spike will probably be around March 13-14th given the current trends. All speculation though, so it could be whenever.

Beautiful, I've been trying to do this all in my head for a while. Nice to have it "on paper"
 
This is great. Fingers crossed, however, the Falcon appointment spike seems to be more than 4 days separated from last year's Falcon-related spike...
 
This is great! Like everybody else here it's on our minds non-stop, really hoping for lots of good news for all of us this week :)
 
I'm a fairly senior ALO...okay, one of THE most senior currently serving, from what I've been told.

I don't know when "they" are coming. USAFA hasn't told us anything. In the past, we received "hints" of "general time frames." This year: crickets.

So..." they're coming..." is true...so is summer...so is the last quarter of the senior year in high school for many here...they're all "coming."

When you'll start to see large numbers of USAFA appointment offers...none of us know. "In past years..." they told ALO's "...sometime around or just after March 15th..." but that was IN THE PAST. Now? Crickets.

And with all the pandemic challenges admissions have had to face, and overcome, to ensure they can accurately and fairly evaluate each candidate...I'm not a bit surprised.

Don't work yourself up into a frenzy folks...this is THE toughest part: the wait.

Thank you for putting this together! I looked up data from the past on this forum too. Here’s what I found:

Falcon Scholar Wave VS. Big Wave
C/O 2022: 2/26/18 (Monday) 3/13/18 (Tuesday) 15 days after FS
C/O 2023: 2/23/19 (Saturday) 3/13/19 (Wednesday) 18 days after FS
C/O 2024: 2/15/20 (Saturday) 3/10/20 (Tuesday). 24 days after FS
C/O 2025: 3/3/21 (Wednesday) ??

Regardless of these past stats, I completely agree with flieger83. The spread of COVID-19 was officially declared a pandemic on 3/11/20- just one day after last year’s big wave.

IF the big wave happens tomorrow or this week, that’s a bonus! But considering all things, don’t expect it and you won’t be disappointed. We can all understand the situation.

If I join the speculation (because why not) aren't the MOC's given an opportunity to notify candidates of appointments? And those notifications are the first sign that a drop is coming, right? Since we're not hearing rumblings of these notifications, I'm skeptical that tomorrow is the "big wave" day I was initially hoping for. Though I understand, everything about this year is different, so may be possible, but not probable....sadly.

No, those notifications are not a true "first sign." Why do I say that?

Because not all MOC's make the calls, some do but some don't (many don't from what I hear from other ALO's, although I don't know why not). Also...it's easy to send a message from RRS to a MOC...but to load up a large "batch" of appointment offers into the system...that's a different issue. And with this year...I truly don't know the challenges/difficulties that RRS may have (most likely has) encountered.

Tomorrow? Eh...next week? Next month?

It'll happen when it happens.
