Is it possible to get selected without medical status qualified yet?
Our son asked his USAFA admissions counselor if they rate candidates as 3Q and he had no idea what that term meant. Does someone with more knowledge than me [emoji3] about USAFA specific admissions procedures know if this is a term USAFA uses? If not, is there an equivalent? Just curious...

To win appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, you must be of good moral character and meet high leadership, academic, physical and medical standards.
Medically Qualified
All candidates admitted to the United States Air Force Academy must meet the medical and weight standards for a commission in the United States Air Force. If you do not meet these standards as an applicant, you will be disqualified unless provided a medical waiver.

Academically Qualified
The Air Force Academy seeks individuals who possess exceptional academic prowess and leadership potential. Because we offer one of the most prestigious and respected academic programs available, academic admissions standards are high. The Admissions process includes a review of two major academic performance indicators:
Our students, or cadets, must maintain a strict schedule of study, athletic responsibilities, leadership and military duties. The challenging core curriculum sequence includes courses in basic sciences, engineering, humanities and social sciences. Your prior academic record should display well-rounded academic preparation for the Academy environment. Strong SAT or ACT scores indicate whether you are likely to succeed in balancing responsibilities across all aspects of Academy life.
- Prior Academic Record (PAR)
- College Admissions Test Scores (SAT Reasoning or ACT)
These two academic factors combine to create your Academic Composite Score. This score is the most important component of our selection composite, weighted at 50%. A low PAR and low test scores, though they may be individually qualifying, will usually result in an academic composite score below our qualifying guidelines.

Physically Qualified
Physical fitness is key to success at the United States Air Force Academy, especially during Basic Cadet Training (BCT) and the fourth-class (freshman) year. Therefore, satisfactory completion of the Candidate Fitness Assessment (CFA) is an important admissions requirement.

Yes, we have been waiting for long. My son checked the anxiety , bullion on foot and back pain boxes in his form. By anxiety he meant being a little tense while taking class tests. He has had no treatment for any of the problems he checked. He just checked to be truthful and his remedial lists were sent twice and the processing times are just going on and on forever. He mentioned that he has not taken any treatment for his issues meaning they are not very significant or did not need medical attention . But no response from DODMERB . Thanks @A1Janitor--we read all these sections on the USAFA portal of course. It's still a little vague, and you know this time of year makes people crazy because we are all just waiting. But thanks for the reply! We'll continue waiting. [emoji3]

I would suggest you have your son call his DODMERB coordinator and ask about his status if his DODMERB status still says under review. They are very busy by also very willing to help if they can. Sometimes things get lost and they are still working some bugs out of the system since the upgrade this last summer. Good luck!Yes, we have been waiting for long.
