I have read some other candidates academic scores and I am nowhere near them. I also have seen that some of them have rejected. My ACT superscore is 28 and I have a 3.62 gpa with advanced, and college classes. Am I still considered competitive academic wise?

Go to the USAFA website and find the latest class profile. It will have stats for SAT/ACT and GPA. See where you really stand. Know a couple things: class rank and classes taken (in context of school profile) are more important than GPA, and Admissions takes into account athletics, leadership, recos, essays, interviews, etc.

From everything I've read, 28 ACT and a 3.62 GPA would likely be academically qualified, that is, meet the minimum requirements. You will know as soon as you fill out the pre-candidate questionnaire.

However, no one hear can tell you if those score will make you competitive for an appointment. It depends on your entire package and who else in your state/district is applying. I've heard stories of appointees and graduates with lower academic scores. I've also heard stories of applicants with higher scores that did not get an appointment and some that could not even get a nomination due to the competitiveness of their district.

There's no simple answer. If you are a senior, you're not going to change your GPA by much but you can study and re-take ACT/SAT. Just do your best and put forth the best package you can.

If you haven't already, start you pre-candidate questionnaire (PCQ) and allow the AFA tell you whether or not you are competitive. I have searched and found no minimums but I realize they do. Do your best and control what u can. I wish u all the best!!!!

I am almost finished with my application, the only thing I have left is my CFA and interview. Thanks for all the help.

Unless something has changed 490 CR or 24 E is the min to be deemed competitive and move from applicant to candidate. They have never posted to my knowledge the min for Math.

Now let's be honest. The median is @30. If I were you, keep taking the ACT, and try the SAT.

From the USAFA admissions page (listed above) - "Students who score below 580 verbal and 560 math on the SAT Reasoning and below 24 English/reading and 25 math/science reasoning on the ACT normally will not be competitive for an appointment."
