I've seen a few videos of the USAFA Honor Guard team on youtube, but it doesn't seem as pronounced as the West Point Drill team. Would anyone care to speak on the quality of the drill team at USAFA in terms of rigor of training, expertise, or anything else? I understand the Honor Guard has other responsibilities, I'm just interested in the drill part of it because it's hard to find information on it.

It depends on whom you are referring to. If you are referring to the "USAFA Honor Guard" you could be referring to the junior airmen of the 10th ABG...and their quality would depend a LOT on how much practice they receive.

If you're speaking of the "Cadet Honor Guard" which is a "varsity" team at USAFA...I'm surprised if you thought one academy was better than the others; they're usually pretty equal.

My DS was on the WP Drill Team for all 4 years. He has a good friend who was in AF Drill Team( pardon the nomenclature, if incorrect.) Each academy has their own culture, but their Drill Team experiences were pretty similar. It is a time commitment in addition to an already challenging regimen. Of course if you are already doing Drill in high school, the discipline and execution of routines likely appeals to you. It comes down to what YOU want to do.

In my biased opinion, of course I believe the WP drill team to be the best. LOL. In all honesty, both are excellent programs if that is what appeals to you. Like with any 'extra' activity, there are going to be events and obligations that pull you from your other workload. If you're willing to take on that challenge, then I would additionally say, don't pursue one Academy over another because of Drill Team. Pick the right school to support your bigger goals around profession and/ or field of education.
