USC

Good Lord! Apparently it doesn't matter what your experience is if your not PC, and do not check the right demographic boxes. It doesn't surprise me that this happened, but it does somewhat surprise me that it happened at South Carolina. Disappointing.

Very disappointed in my alma mater. And they actually have thrown out all of the finalists and are starting the search over to capture more diverse candidates. My tax money at work....

Yeah, cause that Supe Dude has shown no stability or reliability in the last 44 years or so.
Just a sketchy guy.
Good move.
Ugh.
Reminds me of the campaign debate when a candidate stated John Glenn had never had a real job.
Another one of the reasons for concern was that General Caslen lacked a Doctorate.
Obviously he is lacking.
Another thought just struck me, more than likely, he served longer than the people who made this decision have been alive.
Unbelievable.

The value of higher education is becoming less valuable by the day to include the Cocks’ dropping the good general and the outrageous costs of an inferior product; the degree.

Amen to that. Regrettably it is requiring more and more courage to make the right choice in a public arena rather than the popular choice.

Military leaders do manage to move into these positions, but often after checking the block as the head of a military academic institution, gaining the PhD along the way, successfully leading a smaller-scale school after military retirement, then building on that. Going for a flagship state university right out of the gate might have been too big a leap in the eyes of some.

Of course, I think General Caslen would have done just fine.

On the good news front, VADM Ann Rondeau, USN (Ret), PhD Ed, former White House Fellow, former President, National Defense University, former President, College of DuPage, was recently named as President, Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey.

I was fortunate to have known and been mentored by VADM Rondeau, an OCS grad like me, which, seeing the stellar arc of her career, may have been one of the few things we had in common.

History is replete with military officers who went into academics, to include the president of my alma mater who accepted the position after the Civil War because “They were the first ones to offer me a job.” Perhaps not quite Cincinnatus and going back to the farm, but the same principle.
It’s sad that it is no longer PC in today’s society.

He's been one of my heroes all my life, and he had the same prior experience, West Point Superintendent. Of course it wasn't Big State U back then but I'm sure he wouldn't have had any problem with Big State U either.

Happily U. of Central Florida has folks with more common sense, he has accepted their Presidency. Shame on those limp wristed commie liberals at U. of South Carolina. And USC is in California folks.
