USCGA Class of 2024 Appointment Thread

Unfortunately, that text message was intended for students with full appointments to the Class of 2024 who have not accepted/declined yet, but was also sent in error to students with conditional appointments to the Class of 2024 (they can't accept/decline yet) and students with appointments to the Coast Guard Academy Scholar (CGAS) Program. A correction will be released to all students who should not have received the message, but we appreciate the terrible timing of this mistake since the majority of our Regular Admission decisions were released today and apologize for the confusion we know it has caused. Please contact your Admissions Officer or the CGAS Program Manager if you have any questions about your status, but the decision letter posted to your Bears Den is accurate.

It is hard but she has several plan B’s. She knew her weakness was running. She has been bringing her times down since December. She fell in love with it when she went to AIM. She said she got yelled at more than anyone else but loved it. She has $104K scholarship to Bama and will probably go there. Her older brother had the same scholarship and 11 AP’s and graduated in 3 years with a BS in math and MS in applied statistics. Crazy part was the soccer coach had been in contact with her and we thought she was going to play goalie. She is pretty resilient so she will bounce pretty easy from this. Hopefully your daughter is the same!

She is. She is focused on Plan B. She has a scholarship, but is reapplying next year.

I do... I know CGA is trying to fix the mistakes yesterday! But wrong info in my DS:( my 1C is home, but went running in my neighborhood.. I’ll ask him later..,

My DS hasn't done the medical exam. I have a few basic questions about the DODMERB process. I don't think the website is very helpful. DS created an account, but there aren't instructions from there. What should we do? Is there a list of doctors that we can choose from? How do we submit the results? Thanks in advance.

Instructions for the medical exam to be scheduled with an appointed location for both medical and eye exam should be follow in a message on your DS status page. You do not choose your doctor for either of these exams. Exams are contracted and the connection is through DODMERB instructions. After the exam, the physician uploads his findings.

DS received waitlist notification via the Bear's Den today. He will decline to remain on list; he's accepted his appointment to the USNA. Good luck to all that remain on the waitlist and all those that will reapply. And special thanks to those that are attending for doing the work necessary to protect our nation. All of these young persons that are willing to commit to the academies and to a life (or at least a signficant career) serving others are amazing.

What has he been waiting for? He should have received an email from Concord a while ago inviting him to complete the online forms and schedule his exams. Initially he does this on DODMETS. Be aware that on occasion you can wait quite a while for appointments, my DS has to wait 2 months for an appointment to complete his eye exam.

DS hasn't received anything from Concord. I guess it's because he was late for everything - late application, late PFT and late interview. We are really new to the military application process. The AO called today to ask about the progress. He said not to worry about the deadlines. They are flexible as long as we have things scheduled, but we just realized that we don't know how to schedule the exams...

Instructions are in his DODMETS account but you cannot schedule anything until Concord have contacted you. He needs to check his Spam folder.
 
I just discovered this forum. My Son received a Conditional appointment on 21 March via phone call from AO. Then sent an email that his medical waiver has been granted on 27 March, but still waiting for DoDMERB website to update. We received a text message from CGA on 1 April. He is still waiting on USAFA results, but said he plans to accept USCGA. My wife and I are very proud.
