Hi, I have submitted my CGA application in January, however, I still have not heard back from DoDMERB about my medical. I checked my DoDMERB website, it has both my USAFA and USMMA application, both qualified. I know the deadline for DoDMERB for the CGA is April 15th but is this something I should be worried about?

my DD had hers show up Feb 3 after submitting her ap Jan 11.

I would contact your AO and they can contact the DoDMERB liaison to find out more info. For some reason the CGA could not find DS record even though USMMA had it. Was in his file after a few phone calls.

So nothing will show up in DODMERB before you have had your medical which is arranged via the DODMETS website. Check your email for an invitation to arrange your medical, check your SPAM folder as well. If no joy there then contact your AO.

Once USCGA admissions has manually processed all of your application, you will receive an email directly from DoDMERB to start the process. You can be checking your Bear's Den. Once all of the check boxes are filled in, you know the DoDMERB email will be coming soon. My email took about 4 weeks to receive after all of my application was submitted. I'd say to email your AO if you haven't heard from DoDMERB within a week.

Does not having the DoDMERB complete effect my application at all in a negative way? I understand it is separate from the application process.

There is a deadline for it to be completed. All appointments will be conditional until dodmerb is completed and you are found qualified.

I still have not received an email from DoDMERB, the medical examination deadline is due April 15th, what will happen if I don't receive an email by that time even though I have already completed my DoDMERB for two other SAs?

My understanding is if you have already done your DoDMERB exams for other SAs, then USCGA would have access to it.
If you create an account on the DoDMERB (not DoDMETS) site, you can click on the status and I believe it shows which branches and SAs it has been sent to. Mine says Requesting Agency USCGA. I only applied one place, so that all it shows, but if multiple agencies request you exams, it may show that here. If another SA already had you do your DoDMERB, I dont think USCGA would have you do it again.

I do have an account for DoDMERB, it only has USAFA and USMMA on it, it doesn't show anything from the CGA. Thanks for the info though!

USCGA is more selective in sending students to DODMERB screening exams than the other SA. Behind the scenes, there are expenses to cover exams and USCGA tends to request this of only the strongest candidates. It is common for them to offer a conditional appointment and then request screening.
And yes, a candidate who has completed the process for other SA applications would have their info available to USCGA to review and make decisions against.

Both my AO and coach aren't sure, and Mrs. Castineira has not responded yet
What happens when you post this in the DoDMERB thread or just go ahead and email Mr. Mullen (since that’s what he’ll instruct you to do from there anyway)?

I may recall your situation incorrectly but I think you have an LOA? I believe that means they should have requested a waiver. They should be able to confirm that. Mr. Mullen and team should be able to confirm from there if the authority has everything they need to render a decision.

USCGA may be different though... Let me see what my son’s email from Castineira said and I’ll share that. My son doesn’t have an LOA from them though so your situation isn’t identical.

Below is what my son was told by USCGA. They only initiate a waiver after an appointment decision is made. Again, he does not have an LOA from them. I believe you may have said you do.

So I have a question based on what I have seen on this thread. The CGA has requested a waiver for my son but we haven't heard anything from them as far as appointment. Is that a good sign?

It would seem so. They told my son above that they’ll only request waivers for those they will offer appointments to. How do you know they requested the waiver?
