Any idea when the 2020-2021 calendar will be published? We have a family wedding, a soon to be 15 year old wanting to schedule drivers ed over the summer, and I'm paralyzed with planning until the calendar is published. I've read about R-Day's 'brief' send off end of June first of July, then there is beast or summer training not sure how long, followed by A-Day or a ceremony that I've read families do NOT want to miss all before fall classes start. Is anyone else trying to get their ducks in a row?

All's I know from others who asked Admissions is that R-Day is for sure going to be on Monday, June 29, 2020.

Other than that we all have to wait for the new calendar.

Don't forget to reserve a room if you are planning on attending R-Day! Thayer booked. We rented through Airbnb. Busy time for Highland Falls!

Just FYI: Historically, rooms have become available at hotels/motels in the Highland Falls area (even the Thayer) the closer your get to R-Day. As you can imagine, many parents book rooms with the hope that their child will attend USMA, and for one reason or another do not end up being appointed or showing up for R-Day. I'm not saying don't make reservations now if your kid is 100% going, but rather don't give up all hope that you will not be able to stay anywhere in the area.

It’s a pretty good bet that March Back will fall on the 6th Monday after R-Day, that the following Saturday will be A-Day, and the immediately following Monday will be the first day of classes. So classes would begin 7 weeks after R-Day. The time between March Back and A-Day is Reorganization week. None of this is a certainty, since the calendar is not posted yet, but . . . .

Be careful booking anything that cannot be refunded in case your DS/DD changes his or her mind

After RDay you will not see your cadet until ADay unless you are close enough to drive up for march back. They do not get time off between summer training and fall semester, just ADay weekend they can see you, spend time during the days with you and then return to barracks for recall each night. Most will be able to gets passes for Labor Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend if there is something you want to plan for those.

Thanks for that helpful info. I looked at the 2019/20 calendar and saw that there was a family weekend in late October. I assume WP will do something similar in 10/2020. Is that something parents of plebes are invited to, or do they wait until the Plebe/Parent weekend in March?

There are a lot of activities and tours on family weekend in October. Many tours and access ( including your Cadets barracks) are only offered that weekend.
It is also a great time to visit WP and your Cadet if you are able to make it.
There is also a home football game!

I went to both family weekend and ppw. If you can only do one definitely do ppw. They are both different with a few similar activities. I loved the football game at family weekend but our cadet had more duties so we didn’t get as much time with her as ppw.
