Hello everyone!
My name is Pv2 Bell, and I'm currently an Active Duty enlisted soldier. I've been speaking with my chain of command and we've all agreed that I would be a prime candidate to pursue a USMA application and prospective appointment.
However, there is a problem. I have a pretty wild case of amblyopia. That is, my right eye is so poor that about 80% of my field of vision comes from my left eye.
In my research, I've discovered that 20/20 vision is not a requirement, as long as your vision is at least correctable to 20/20. Well, my left eye is. However, my right eye max potential is always measured out at 20/25.
Obviously, the Army gave me a waiver for it. It does not affect my depth perception, and I'm otherwise qualified. I guess I just wasn't blessed in the field of vision.
I was wondering if anyone may have any experience/further correspondence, if not just some additional advice or heart-shattering news that there's nothing I can do (kidding--kind of).
I appreciate any and all feedback!
