Back in Action

With Spring Break being last week, the admissions committee didn't meet and all has been quiet on the Acceptance thread! They should be back in action for the Tuesday meeting this afternoon and more good news will be coming on this thread in the coming days! Good luck to all those waiting!
 
Gosh, this is awful. Simply too awful.
Do senators HAVE to call 3 days prior to getting a BFE? Or will one day I just stumble upon the sack of glory, before my senator calls?
 
Your nominating source doesn't have to call, ever. I'm actually not expecting a call from my congressman because he wasn't the one to nominate me, his predecessor was. So you won't necessarily get a call. They send out letters on Thursdays, so I go mailman hunting Saturday-Tuesday, and then they update the portals with all the new appointments on the Tuesday after decisions have been made. Decisions were made today, in all likely hood.

You're not the only one scared out of their wits XD
 
when you get your BFE, call your congressmen. That'll teach em'!

Is it customary for Admissions to call the senator/congressman before sending out the BFE just to inform them?

If you have a MOC nom, WP will notify the MOC and give them 72 hours from the date of offer to tell the candidate of their appointment.
After the 72 hours, then the FFR can tell the candidate. The offer date is also when the BFE is mailed.

If you do not have a MOC nom, then your FFR can notify you as of the offer date.

If your DD or DS name is on their slate, the MOC will be informed. Earlier on this thread I expressed amazement that DS received call from congressman since
1. He was not primary nominee
2. Congressman inherited slate from predecessor who did not run for reelection.
It is my understanding that if candidate's name is on the slate the MOC is informed even if they are not "charged" for that appointment.
 
Yes, HZMA, my DD received a nom from our congressman who did not run for re-election and I recall reading your thread. I just wasn't sure if it was a requirement that admissions call the MOC. So who would admissions call if my DD received the appointment? The new MOC? We are from NC as well.
 
@lakeland11 Admissions will inform new Congressman. From others experiences MOC may call, email or do nothing. We live in NC 09 and another candidate from same district as ours received appointment on same day as DS.
 
Remember that Congressmen/Women have few restrictions on their activities in this process. They can nominate people using any criteria they want. They can nominate from one person to ten people for each vacancy-it is entirely up to them. Some do not nominate anyone. They can notify people who are accepted or not. The vast majority do their best to nominate the highest qualified people and then closely follow their careers. However, basically they can do almost anything they want to do.

My DS was in the same situation. He was nominated by a MOC who did not run for re-election. He was notified of his appointment by the new MOC.

Agree with all above - MOCs are given first chance to congratulate the appointee but it is not required that they do. Their choice.
 
Crickets

It's been like crickets chirping on this acceptance thread for 3 weeks! I know admissions committee didn't meet week of 11th due to spring break, but nothing for 2 weeks beyond that...seems there are very few if any acceptances that have gone out since week of March 4th since none have been posted on here. Is there anyone in the know who can confirm? Are they waiting to send out another big batch since all indications were that at least several hundred spots were left? And, with this new process this year, I wonder if West Point should be concerned they are losing kids who maybe got offers elsewhere and aren't going to wait around. Seems it's been very disorganized this year, and much much later notification than previous years.....

I've said it before and I'll say it again----I wish the very best for all of you who are still waiting for word on your applications. There's still vacancies to be filled and not everyone will accept their appointments.

That said, today is a special day for my family, specifically my DS who can't seem to stay still at the moment.
