Hey everybody I had a question that I could not find an answer to regarding LOAs for USMA. On the West Point website it says,

"West Point no longer conducts rolling admissions. The majority of offers of admission are made between November and June of the following year. However, for those fully qualified, outstanding candidates who have completed all admissions requirements, they may receive offers as early as November"

Does this mean that West Point no longer does LOAs? I know they do LOEs, but I'm pretty sure that's a different animal. Again, my question is only about USMA. I know Navy is already doing LOAs. Thanks much!

West Pointis offering LOAs. Several candidates in my states have received LOAs from West Point.

LOAs are rarer than they use to be 5-6 years ago.
LOAs offer the candidate an overnight visit. When USMA pulled back on the number of LOAs, LOEs were created to enable Admissions to offer the overnight visits.

Oh, how I wish LOAs were not even part of the lexicon here.

Again, do not expect an LOA. Do not be disappointed if you do not receive one. Forget you ever heard about them.

About how many LOAs are sent each year? Has a number ever been released or does anyone have a speculation?

No, they don't have a target and they don't release those numbers.

STOP! No more LOA discussion.

MI1289, forget you ever heard of LOAs. Please. No possible good can come of it. If you get one, great, rejoice! If not, watch for that thick envelope.

There. Problem solved.
