I would love, love, LOVE to attend USMMA, however it would appear that I have missed the congressional nomination deadline. So if I attend community college, could I then attend USMMA? I'm kind of at a loss here....

Welcome to the forums! If you missed your deadline then you'll have to wait for next year for it to begin again. You can attend college and go for it again. However, if you get appointed, you have to still do all fours years of the USMMA college-education. Hope that helps. The best place to ask questions would be on the MMA forum if you want the best answers.

Welcome! :thumb:

Yes, you will be able to attend. You will have to complete all four years and your credits won't transfer, however, you may be able to validate some classes.

The only thing I'd also recommend is calling and talking to your congressman personally (well, his staff!). Depending on your district and how competitive it is, there still may be a chance, especially for MMA. My son did his interview last Saturday for our congressman and they told us they only had 11 qualified applicants that they were interviewing total for the 4 academies! Now we're nowhere near the East Coast, and I doubt more than one or two candidates were asking for MMA, if that. So if they hadn't submitted the names yet already, and thought you were a viable candidate, they might consider adding you to the slate.

Not trying to get your hopes up because this will vary greatly by region, but I'd certainly say it would be worth the cost of a phone call to find out just in case! Good luck!

Thanks Marciemi, I did call, and unfortunately they absolutely refuse to accept late nomination applications.... So I'll be heading to my local community college and waiting until March to start the application process for the nomination..... Thanks anyway.
