USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

It is interesting to look at USNA 2025 Instagram. Over 1K followers and requires proof of acceptance to join. Makes me curious because that would be nearing the class size. Maybe it allows family members to join as well. Definitely causes a little angst as our family waits on news for our DS in GA! Have nom in place and hopefully qualified. Who knows? All boxes checked on portal and left nothing on the table. We know he gave it all he had! Plan B in place to head to UGA, but hoping for the best news ever! Holding our breath in ATL, GA!

It says DM proof of acceptance to be posted, so I’m assuming just about anyone can follow, but if wanting to be posted for means of meeting other admitted students, you must send proof.

Considering how relatively few appointments have been reported on this site, I can’t believe that they are as far along as that Instagram site may make it appear. While I recognize that this site represents only small percentage of the candidate pool, previous year appointment threads put it at roughly 10-15% of the population. Additionally, comparison to the appointment threads in the other SA forums shows that USNA is WAY behind in offering appointments. The number of members of that Instagram site has to include a significant number of parents in addition to appointees.

I wouldn't get too worked up over social media accounts. We don't know who is actually managing them. Plus, I doubt that there is anything instructing appointees to join (meaning I don't really think that there is a direct correlation).

For all we know, there could be other mids from other years joining each others' group. I think we're all stressed out enough as it is. I don't want to overthink this kind of stuff. I have other things to freak out about. haha

it can be parents or anyone. I followed it myself just to see who had been admitted so far. They are some sharp kids (young adults) for sure!

The Instagram is mostly followed by midshipmen already at the Naval Academy. I know there were a ton of Class of 2024 midshipmen trying to prank the admin by saying they recently received appointments when they were already at the academy. Do not stress too much over the number of followers. At the end of the day if USNA really wants you they will offer you an appointment regardless if they have accepted 20 candidates or 1300 candidates.

Anyone can follow this account. I don’t think the number of followers reflects the number of appointments.

On the Instagram page there are numerous upper class and USNA meme pages that follow the account, so not everyone is a USNA 2025 appointee.

Believe it or not, when the account was first created, it was accepting everyone. I followed it when it had around 70 followers to see when people were receiving appointments in my area. I just checked and the account only follows back those who when to NAPS and those who have USNA '25 in their bio.

I am actually from Atl, GA too. Congratulations on UGA! Hoping for good news to your DS I saw he received a nomination from my congressional district.

I know for a fact that the followers doesn't show appointees correctly. I attended the virtual visit weekend and then followed one of the mids that was assigned to ask me questions. They follow the account and I would bet that he isn't the only mid doing so.

What is dead may never die... now, back to the OP theme?

I received one of those waivers! Was under waiver review for that condition for nearly 6 months and got the waiver which was the last requirement for my LOA to become an appointment. There were many times I began losing hope about the waiver by many current mids I know tried reassuring me that they have friends who got that waiver. Best of luck!
I've seen your posts and it's kept me positive about it. Thank you for your ray of hope! He doesn't have the LOA though but still no TWE so we are sitting here sending all the good vibes, lighting candles and using feng-shui--whatever it takes! May I IM you with questions?

So, for those of us waiting . . and waiting . . . I'm not sure exactly what I'm waiting for. I think I know what it will be if it's bad news since our son got the bad news last year. It was a note in his portal telling him that he was denied. He got it in the middle of April. And I know how an appointment arrives in a normal year (often a call from the nomination source, change in portal, followed by a BFE). Our older son got one of those in 2015. But do we know how good news might be delivered this year? Has the pandemic changed the way good news might arrive? I saw at least one person (on another board) say that the BFE just arrived in the mail with no other/earlier indication of an appointment. And, based thereon, I've got to admit that I'm waiting for the letter carrier every day . . .

No change in process has been communicated to BGO's. I find it unlikely that a BFE is just going to arrive. Once an Appointment decision is made, USNA informs the MOC, and gives them a few days to provide notice (some MOC do, some don't); once that period is over, it is posted on the portal. BGO's actually see a Pending MOC Notice or Fully Qualfied Offer on our portal, but will not (or at least should not) be the source of notice. I usually wait until the Candidate notifies me..or hear that he/she is already aware, before I contact them.
