USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

Does the conditional require a response?
I received a conditional that did not require any response. The wording was almost identical to an LOA, directing you to fulfill any requirements left. A letter came in the mail showing what was left to be completed.

You're waiting on an LOA or you have one? If there are outstanding items, maybe you already have the LOA but waiting on the appointment? We're all going a little crazy and everything confuses me and makes me anxious. Can you clarify, please? At this point, I don't know how many LOAs they'll be providing. I'd think that they'd jump right to an appointment, unless someone legit still needs to get their medical taken care of... (but for real - I have no idea what I'm saying).
Sorry I mistook the meaning of LOA. I have not received one. I received a conditional appointment to the USNA Class of 2025. I apologize for the confusion.

I think they are basically the same thing. Congrats! Hopefully everything you’re waiting on comes through.

Running out of things I can do in between each refresh of the portal. I go from the portal, to here, to making filters for all the different kinds of Naval Academy related emails, to rereading past emails, to refreshing the portal, to watching a naval academy youtube video, to going through the USNA25 Instagram, to looking at NROTC, to looking at NUPOC, to looking at enlisting options fro both marines and navy, then rinse and repeat. Portal refreshes are sprinkled throughout all of that alongside forum and email refreshes.:bounce1:
I love it!!! This just made my day! 🤣🤣🤣

Most relatable thing I've read all day. I just refresh the portal, read emails, read the forums, and refresh the portal again. You did forget to mention checking voicemails and answering spam calls, though.

Hi there, Does anyone know if the USNA is able to view waivers from another service academy that had requested waivers and accepted on DoDMERB?

Waivers are granted by the commissioning source. So a waiver from USAFA won’t cross over to another SA or ROTC. This is why you will see some get waivers for one commissioning source but not another.

From correspondence that we’ve had, I do know that they have access to any AMI you submitted to get your other waiver. Whether they can see the other waiver or would even care (probably not), I don’t know.

Thank you , 🙏 still hopeful

What about USMMA and USNA since both use Navy BUMED as their waiver authority? I have been wondering about that.

As far as I know the commissioning source is USNA. NROTC would be a separate waiver from even USNA. I am guessing USMMA is probably separate. Mr. Mullen or someone who applied to both can probably chime in.

So, this conversation has me confused. I'm hoping you (or someone else who knows How Things Work) can clarify or correct what I thought I knew but am now not certain:
Is an LOA the same thing as conditional appointment? I was thinking that an LOA was the official notification of conditional appointment. For instance, my DS received a letter in the mail saying he was guaranteed an appointment if all conditions were met. For him, there was an X by medical qualification, which makes sense because he's under waiver review. About the same time, I believe, his portal reflected his status as "conditional appointment." (Or he got an email to that effect. Somehow, he received electronic notification.) Anyway, we took that to be an LOA, and that we just have to wait to hear on his waiver. If I'm reading other posts correctly, waiver notification could come anytime between now and I-Day, so we have to be patient because the April 15th target isn't for waivers, but for admission decisions, and the "conditional appointment" essentially shows his admission decision. Is this the case? Thanks for your patience towards those of us who are new to this and struggling to understand the process!
You are spot on and got it right!

Perhaps it could be a factor of: 1) what needs to be cleared, 2) the timing of such offer

What I mean by that, is perhaps the SA needs a neck tape measure. That is a common one. And one my oldest needed. He received exactly what @THParent posted above. But his condition was a form. Quick and easy. But the wording was both LOA, and Conditional Offer. All was offered and cleared in a day.

So, essentially, if not ACTUALLY, it’s the same thing. The closer one is to April 15th, the greater likelihood the “LOA” condition to be cleared is something that’s already been dealt with (ie: a DODMERB, a nomination), and that LOA kind of looses its enigma that it holds Early in the process.....

I remember back in the day, wondering the same thing: did my son ACTUALLY receive an LOA? Ultimately it didn’t matter. But 🤷‍♀️

My son got into the right portal again, and he still has his LOA sitting there mocking him with a response date for all outstanding items of April 26, 2021.

Mocking him since he already knows he did not receive a nomination from any source, as I've mentioned before, which was the only outstanding item. He already has a confirmed waiver (actual hardcopy letter) for medical from the Academy. So, he is in total limbo for the statistically insignificant chance of a "found" nomination, or a potential NAPS offer.

I feel bad for him. But he has other choices for plan B with a local civilian school and some small scholarships to offset some costs.

That stinks. I'm sorry. But it's not over 'til it's over!! I know that having a LOA is not a guarantee (nothing is until you have an actual appointment), but I think that if the Academy thought highly enough of his application to award him with that LOA that there's a chance he may be charged to another state/district and secure that nom. It's my understanding that you don't need a nomination for NAPS/Foundation so hopefully that's a strong possibility for him as well.

Keep your chin up! Hopefully things will all work out as you hope!

Correct, you do not need a nomination for NAPS.

Oh, and of course he is still in limbo with his USAFA application. He does have a nomination for there, but did not make the big wave of appointments in March. Longer it goes, the lower the odds.

A candidate with LOA and no MOC/Presidential Nom, waiting this late in the game is very common. We see this for a few candidates each year even on this forum. Generally this is because as they put the last pieces of the puzzle together for a class they are moving around rare noms like The VP nom for candidates that fit this category.
