Please accept my apologies. My comment was actually more geared toward these remarkable candidates, your son included, who never ‘give up’ on anything. They work hard towards a goal. Are tenacious, and hard workers. And that we don’t think of any of them giving up ‘giving up’. That we do t hear those words, because these most excellent never give up on their dreams. It’s a compliment. A play on those words. Your use of the words was not incorrect.Actually I did not understand… I speak 4 languages but English is not my native language as you can see. The word “give up” was funny and inappropriate for NAVY people who never give up, decline is a better word… hahaha

You did not misspeak at all. I was making an inference towards the type of person that applies. That they never ‘give up’ on anything.
