Please accept my apologies. My comment was actually more geared toward these remarkable candidates, your son included, who never ‘give up’ on anything. They work hard towards a goal. Are tenacious, and hard workers. And that we don’t think of any of them giving up ‘giving up’. That we do t hear those words, because these most excellent never give up on their dreams. It’s a compliment. A play on those words. Your use of the words was not incorrect.

You did not misspeak at all. I was making an inference towards the type of person that applies. That they never ‘give up’ on anything.

Congrats to your son! He has a bright future ahead.

Absolutly you can keep NROTC and give up if you get USNA Appointment. Last YR my DS, a current USNA Plebe, was able to keep his after discussing with NROTC leadership and the University as a plan B and 'gave it up' after IDAY. We sent email to both NROTC & University after IDAY.

I'm a USNA class of 2027 candidate. I recently tried to add a few awards to my file, but my BGO called to tell me the area coordinator could not add them because my application had already been reviewed by the board. This was about 3 weeks ago when I got the call, and I have not heard from the academy about my status (the portal still says CPR). My package has been complete since early December and I received my MOC nomination but did not receive senator noms, still waiting on VP. Is it normal for the board to take this long after reviewing the application? Will they wait longer to give appointments to non-LOA applicants? Thanks!

You are in the same company as many, many other candidates.

Yes this is normal.

The majority of candidates will hear something by mid-April. About 8 more weeks. Hang in there!
 
For candidates with applications marked as CPR, how long was it from when you finished your application to when your status got changed from Incomplete to CPR? I'm still waiting to become CPR. Thanks :)
 
My status changed from Incomplete to CPR after my nomination was posted in the portal. That switched within the week I got the nom about mid December.

Admissions does not use a straight linear process, as in after the Board reviews records for admissibility, someone does not go immediately to a keyboard to update portals with appointment offers. There are other processes working in parallel, including the team managing noms and appointments, and many things must fall into place, including final approvals, before appointments are offered.

There are no doubt candidates whose records were reviewed by the Board last fall, who will see their decision in April. This is a deliberate, thoughtful and complex decision process to evaluate each applicant and determine their fit - or not - in the class being built this year to meet various class-building objectives.

You are in an absolutely normal place.

I believe your portal will show CPR until it updates with a decision, sometime between now and roughly mid-April. Sometimes the process goes into May and June, but the majority will know their decision sometime in April.

No news is good news.

Thank you! That makes sense with their long precise application process. Glad to hear they don't just throw the 1300 appointments out there. I look forward to April!

I heard it was more of a roulette wheel, with candidates names on it. Each week a member of the Admissions team gets a chance to spin the wheel and select a candidate. (Just kidding; this is a situation where all we can do is sit back and let the process unfold, so why not have a few laughs).
 
I've got an idea!

They take the person graduating and make a target with names of all of the candidates available for the nomination slot that they filled and will be used for the next class. Set it up at 1000 yards. Graduating mid gets to shoot a .50 BMG, and whatever name gets hit, gets the slot!

That way, the outgoing mid gets to help in the selection process for the incoming one that is taking their place! :D
 
Looks like February appointments are dripping. Texas, Florida, California, New Jersey are reporting big on the forum. Makes me wonder if those slates are rectified sooner or just more highly represented here on the forum.

The waiting is tough. Plan B is becoming more real. All the best to all who are waiting and passing the time speculating.

Ah, makes sense! On this side of things, we don't know what we don't know and I never think of NJ as a high population state, for some reason. But, now that you say it, when touring east coast universities it seems the highest out of state population of students for the schools we've visited is always NJ.

Guess we might be seeing more Pennsylvania and New Yorkers on the board soon. 🙏
 
Hello, I wanted to reach out because I had a couple questions. I went to summer seminar session 2 last year. I completed everything for my Naval Academy application back in late November. I already received my nomination through the congressman, and the only thing I haven't received yet is my medical evaluation. I was confused on does the Academy scheduled appointment for medical evaluation or is that something you have to do on your behalf?

I haven't received anything back yet and my application process is still pleading. i've been trying to keep a positive mindset and not stress out.
 
It's likely the instruction email may have gone to your spam folder. You need to go to the DoDMets site and click on the applicant box/button I believe.
