USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Looking at the thread on appointments to the 2027 class to the USNA I noticed only one person from NY. I think. What I have learned in almost every thread on here is there is no magic answer and the only thing certain is time will tell.

In an effort to kill some time and to try to gain an understanding of the appointment process that only a quantum computer could produce maybe we can apply some historical data to gain no further understanding to this unsolvable question.

I’ll start with previous lists for appointments go to 150 approximately. I think others have produced tables of how historically the numbers are released. I might presume but shouldn’t that more New Yorkers should be on the current 2027 appointment list.

Does anyone else have any historical data on New York appointments to the Naval Academy.

Only about 15% of appointees make the list on SAF. Probably a smaller population of applicants.

So any analysis would be fruitless imo.

My son was appointed in February of 2019 from New York.

I hope this thread is taken in the spirit it is meant but I also understand we are all waiting patiently for some very important information in our lives and the lives of our family. There are very knowledgeable and professional people responsible for this forum who dedicate a great amount of time helping us navigate through a highly complex process. I thank them. If it found to be inappropriate I apologize and please take it down or let me know and I will take it down.

That would make him a senior I believe. Congratulations. Did you post his acceptance at the time if you don’t mind me asking.

It’s not inappropriate to wonder where you stand. But there are far better uses of your time than to try to analyze a data set that’s probably not representative of USNA applicants and/or offerees. As we say often here: Focus your precious time and energy on things you can control. Such as preparing Plan B, working out, spending quality time with family and friends. You won’t regret any of that.

No he does not have an LOA...he received two nominations and was told by one that he was the primary however my understanding is that our state does not submit their nominations that way. We have not seen any appointments (other than one re applicant) for our state yet or heard of any in our area.
ok crossing my fingers for him!!! this is not an easy process but it does make these kids stronger!!

Has anyone who was CPR received a TWE.
Im wondering if all CPR’s are still hopefuls or if unfortunately some CPRs have began to receive TWEs. I believe a similar question was asked about TWEs but Im not certain if it pertained to CPRs. Thank you.

I’d like to see that email address as well if u can sharer

I’m not sure I can private message yet…I just joined today and read somewhere that I have to have so many posts before I can private message

For lack of not sharing a government email publicly, I am going to now recommend that people attempt to get these contacts how I did, which is by emailing a few people about the problems I had.

Very quickly all the right people were CC'd into the conversation.

Sorry for jumping ahead in trying to help.. wish I could help more

Everyone, Thank you for posting. I helps as we wait to read of other in the same boat. I am happy to report, my DS checked his portal last night and his status finally changed. It now reads USNA conditional offer-LOA. So now we wait for a wavier for an injury that occurred in 7th grade, Does anyone know how long the waiver process takes? Do we need to do anything? He has not been contacted for any additional information and we had a letter in his file from a specialist that said his injury was 100% healed and that he has no restrictions. We are excited and cannot wait for him to have a button that allows him to accept the offer. The waiting was crazy and it seems we get to wait a little while more but getting the LOA makes it seem like a giant weight has been lifted off. These last few weeks he has been scrambling for backup plans but his heart has been for either the NA or CGA. So excited for him.

First Post!!! My DD is waiting patiently here in MD, so I did do a little historical analysis on the last few years of data last week. (its both my job and hobby to do that kind of stuff). I pulled the last 4 years of appointment data into a spreadsheet. I only looked at appointment date and state when available. As others have mentioned the data set is likely not very highly representative but we honestly have no way of knowing that for sure (we just don't have the demographics to tell).

So what can we see from the data I pulled? I think I can only really see five things that are interesting:

  1. Fewer appointments have been reported so far this year. I desperately want to conclude that this means anything, but it probably doesn't. :)
  2. Thu and Fri are the primary notification days this year so far with nearly 50% of appointments reported on those days. this is surprisingly different than other years where Mon, Tue and Wed were the higher notification days but overall notifications were more evenly spread throughout the week. I thought this may be a function of where we are timeline-wise but that doesn't look to be the case.
  3. On average about 15% of appointment dates were reported as after April 15th (that seems high so leads me to wonder about how representative the sample data really is)
  4. Half of MD appointments reported are after April 15th, the rest of the data is at 12% (not a lot of MD appointments so this is interesting but of limited value.
  5. 2025 Appointment notifications were an anomaly but that makes sense given Covid that year
These are fun facts, but really they don't mean much. My DD called me a nerd, but she knows this is just what I do. So like everyone says, just sit back, relax, do your taxes, and trust the process.

I really appreciate that this forum is here and all the folks answering questions. My DD has completely run with the process and I couldn't be more proud of her no matter what happens. As we sit back and watch our kid fly, this was a fun little exercise for me to do between meetings last week. I'll keep updating my spreadsheet every couple of days and am happy to answer any data questions when I can.

My DS received a conditional offer-LOA yesterday and we are in central NY. We now wait for a waiver as his received a DQ for a medical issue from over 5 years ago. We don't believe it should be an issue. He had a letter from a specialist saying he was 100% with no restrictions.

I feel your pain and also was trying to analyze trends last year. DD came off waitlist last year on May 19 and is currently at Foundation Prep. We know of four candidates from NY in the class of 2026 who did not post here, one from Rockland County, two from Suffolk County and one from Nassau County . There is also a current plebe from our congressional district at USNA who did post his appointment on SAF . We are in NYC in a relatively competitive district in Queens that borders Long Island . I have posted before that I truly empathize with all the candidates and their families who are still waiting. We had been told numerous times that “no one” ever comes off wait list last year . If you look at the USNA 2026, there is I think over ten that came off waitlist in late May and those are full appointments . There are quite a few that are at Foundation or NAPS that also came off waitlist. We had put down a deposit at Plan B school made peace with it and moved on . Then a voice message on her cell on May 19 rocked our world , in a very good way . There is honestly, and I speak from personal opinion, no way to analyze how USNA admissions makes their decisions . It’s a lot more than test scores and GPAs. I sincerely wosh everyone here waiting the best of luck!
